Today, I’m sharing a list of nine spring essentials you should have in your wardrobe. These are the pieces that will form the base of your spring wardrobe.
I’ll be honest and say this was hard to narrow down; I had several other options I wanted to include like a white button up and mules. Your spring essentials will differ based on your lifestyle; although, I do believe all the items in this post are essentials for most people.
Over the course of spring, I’ll be styling these pieces in different posts so you can have some more outfit ideas!
Classic Spring Essentials
STRIPED TEE // Stripes are the quintessential spring pattern. I recommend finding one with a boxy cropped fit like this one, but a fitted one is also nice for pairing with wide leg pants and skirts. I also own this striped top from Everlane as well which is great quality.

STRAIGHT LEG DENIM // I know wide leg and full length denim is on trend right now, but for a classic look, stick with a good pair of slim cut, high waisted straight leg denim. This cut of denim will never go out of style (French girls have been wearing them for decades!) This is a classic pair of Levi’s 501s. I also really love Everlane’s straight leg denim which I’ve linked below.

TRENCH COAT // A trench coat is a classic outerwear option for spring. I didn’t know how I felt about them until I purchased one last fall and ended up wearing it a ton! It’s cool, classic, and polished. I own this Sam Edelman one which is sold out in the classic beige color. This is the brand’s current version. I also own this beautiful one from Everlane that is softer and less structured with a gathered detail at the shoulders. Size down in that one.

LIGHT COLORED BLAZER // You know I love my blazers; they make any outfit look polished. For a spring look, I switched out my gray plaid blazer for this taupe and ivory one with a windowpane pattern. To keep the look modern, look for a blazer that has a relaxed fit that hits at your hips rather than your waist. My favorite way to style a blazer is with denim and sneakers.

WHITE SNEAKERS // A classic white fashion sneaker is an absolute must for any spring wardrobe. For a classic style, stick with a slim white sneaker instead of the chunky dad sneakers that are currently trending. Those are cute, too, but I imagine the trend won’t stick around. White sneakers are by far my most worn shoe. You can pair them with almost anything – dresses, skirts, denim, trousers, jumpsuits, etc. I’ve owned many pairs over the years. I’m currently wearing these Court Sneakers from Everlane, but I also really like the Sam Edelman and Madewell ones.

FEMININE BLOUSE // Some kind of feminine blouse is ideal for spring. Choose a pattern that you like such as floral, lace, or eyelet. Spring is also a good time to play with color so go wild! I’m in love with this super affordable balloon sleeve blouse from Old Navy, but I’ve linked several different options below. You can pair your blouse with distressed denim or cut-off shorts or with white denim for a classic spring look.

WHITE DENIM // I wear my white denim year round, but it’s so classic for spring. I prefer a straight leg denim that’s a heavier weight so it doesn’t show every lump and bump as white denim tends to do. This pair from Everlane is my favorite. Pair it with blouses, tees, tanks, and button up tops.

CREAM SWEATER // A cream sweater is a spring staple. Pair it with denim and trousers in March and April and shorts and skirts in May and June. For sweaters, I do recommend purchasing the best you can afford as cheap sweaters tend to lose their shop quickly. I’m wearing this cotton crewneck from Everlane in the photo. However, I did link options at different price points below since I know everyone is working with a different budget.

LOAFERS // If you’re looking for versatile shoe, the classic loafer is perfect. You can dress them up for the workplace or wear them casually like me. I also have a love affair with mules, but I find those are more casual and might not be quite as versatile. The pair I’m wearing is old from Madewell, but I linked several options below.
