In just a few days, my family and I will be heading to the City of Light for our summer vacation. I’m beyond excited and have been spending way too much time thinking about what I’m going to wear. Honestly, planning my outfits is half the fun of a vacation, and since I’ve been obsessed with Parisian style for many years, this is like my Super Bowl. In this post, I’m sharing some Parisian inspired summer outfits I’m using for inspiration for our trip. Putting together this post actually resulted in a few purchases which you’ll see soon! Next week, I’ll be sharing my packing list with everything I’m bringing. It won’t be a short list – I’m an overpacker.
For this post, I wanted to stick to neutral colors which not only aligns more with Parisian style but also makes it easier to mix and match pieces you packed if you are planning a trip there soon. I’ve been really drawn to navy, black, and shades of white, an elegant summer color combination. I’ve created some of these outfits for daytime (shorts and tee looks) and some for the evening (dresses and trousers).
Parisian Inspired Summer Outfits
Navy Tee + Linen Shorts + Ballet Flats
Somehow Parisians manage to look chic even when it’s hot. I think it’s the combination of natural fabrics in a loose silhouette. Here’s my take – a navy cotton tee, beige linen shorts in a slightly longer length, and a scarf tied at the neck. I added some black mesh flats since I love little edge to my outfits and a leather sling bag for handsfree sightseeing.
Midi Dress + Black Sandals
We have a few dinner reservations booked, and I like to get slightly dressed up for these. However, we are traveling with our kids so we won’t be taking part in fine dining or Michelin starred cuisine (maybe another time!) so I didn’t want to get too fancy. A midi dress in a linen fabric is a nice option for dinner. I might add a black blazer to this if it’s a chilly evening.
Striped Cotton Tank + Denim + Mary Janes
I think this look would be perfect for wandering around a museum in Paris perhaps after enjoying a picnic at the park. This tank is a cotton poplin material that has a very cute v-neck in the back. I paired it with some wide leg jeans and woven Mary Jane flats. Of course, the basket bag is essential as well.
Striped Tank + Trousers + Black Sandals
This look could work for the evening or daytime depending on how you style it. This striped tank is a light linen material which makes it breathable for hot summer days. I also just purchased these trousers in this off white color to wear around Paris. They are incredibly comfortable but also super chic.
White Tee + Tan Tailored Shorts + Mary Janes
This casual combination of a tee and tailored shorts would work nicely for a busy day doing some sightseeing. You could swap the ballet flats for sneakers if you are planning to do a ton of walking that day.
Black Linen Mini Dress + Ballet Flats
For a hot evening, a little black dress in linen would be my outfit of choice. It’s so simple and classic. For accessories, I added a basket bag with a scarf tied at the handle. You could also add a blazer here if the evening cools down.
Blue Button Down Layered Over A Black Tank + Linen Shorts + Ballet Flats
If the day calls for both inside and outside activities, an oversized button down is the perfect lighter outerwear option. Try wearing it unbuttoned over a black tank and linen shorts. I paired this look with some black flats – when I’m wearing a black top, I really prefer to wear black shoes to tie the look together.
Brown Tank + Denim + Leopard Flats
This last look is another denim outfit – Parisians love their denim and so do I! I paired them with a brown cropped tank (I linked the one pictured and the one I own above) and leopard print flats.
