Have you jumped on the trousers trend yet? Trousers have always been around, but I’ve been seeing them styled in tons of new, fresh ways this fall. From the office to daywear, trousers are the pants of the season. And because they are so popular, we have tons of options available from cropped to full length, wide leg to skinny flares. In this post, I’m showing you three ways to style trousers – for the weekend, for the office, and for date night.
These trousers are the Way High Drape Pant from Everlane. They are chic, elegant, and modern with a high waist and wide leg. I sized down in these and have the 30″ inseam. I’m 5’3″ for reference. The material is 60% TENCEL which is super soft and drapes nicely. I will say that at my height, these are a smidge too long to wear with flats so I’m going to have them hemmed 1 to 2 inches. I’m not a fan of the puddle pant trend, and I prefer my pants to just barely skim the floor.
For a similar, but more affordable option, try these pants from H&M.
Three Ways To Style Trousers
For The Weekend
Tee // Sweater (size down) // Trousers (I sized down) // Converse // Bag (Clare V. via TheRealReal; similar) // Necklace // Earrings // Sunglasses
For a chic weekend look, I’ve styled these wide leg trousers with a striped tee, a sweater (worn over the shoulders here) and my high top Converse. The combination of the tee and shoes transforms these trousers into casual wear, but you could also throw a blazer over this instead and wear it to work, too. For another casual look, try pairing your trousers with a graphic sweatshirt and white sneakers.
For The Office
Button Down // Trousers (I sized down) // Boots (old from Able; similar) // Tote Bag // Necklace // Earrings
I wore a button down and pants everyday when I worked in an office 10 years ago, but what makes this look more modern is the cut of the pants and the relaxed fit of the button down. I added a brown belt and my favorite heeled boots for this professional look. If you have short legs like me, try opting for a shoe with a pointed toe which elongates the legs, especially with this style of pant.
For Date Night
Bodysuit (size up one; similar) // Trousers (I sized down) // Block Heel Pumps // Clutch (vintage; similar) // Necklace // Earrings
Lastly, to wear your trousers for date night, add a sexy top like this bodysuit (one of my date night staples) and some pumps. Make sure your top is more fitted to create a balanced silhouette with the wide leg pants.
