My love affair with Sézane knitwear began last year with the Gaspard Cardigan. It is one of Sézane’s best selling pieces and personifies that understated Parisian sexiness that I’m always striving for. Over the past year, I slowly began adding other knitwear to my collection including the Léontine Jumper, the Lucas Jumper, the Betty Cardigan, and more recently the Angelie Jumper. Usually I feel a bit drab in boxy, shapeless sweaters, but Sézane’s designs always look chic and feminine. My latest purchase is the Barry Cardigan. It is very similar to the Gaspard Cardigan but has a v-neck design instead. In this post, I’m sharing a Sézane Barry Cardigan review including fabric composition, fit and sizing, and overall impressions.
Note that I partner with Sézane to feature their pieces on my platforms, but I purchased the Barry Cardigan with my own money.

Sézane Barry Cardigan Review
Material Composition
The Sézane Barry Cardigan is part natural fibers and part synthetic material. The exact composition breakdown is as follows: 37% super kid mohair, 37% baby alpaca, and 26% polyamide. The most common question I receive about Sézane’s knitwear is whether it is itchy. Over their line of knitwear this definitely varies. Personally, I’m very sensitive to natural fibers like wool and alpaca, and I do find some pieces to have a bit of itch to them. The Gaspard and Barry cardigans I find to be slightly scratchy; although, not enough that I wouldn’t wear them.
You may also want to consider that the Barry Cardigan along with most Sézane knitwear is hand wash only. I almost never wash my knitwear unless absolutely necessary so this isn’t a deal breaker for me personally. To extend the period between washes, you could consider an undergarment like a bodysuit that protects the garment.
Features of the Barry Cardigan
The Barry Cardigan has a v-neck design that can be worn with the buttons in the back or front which is similar to the Gaspard Cardigan. I adore this feature as I find the buttons in the back to be trés sexy and perfect for a chic date night look. The buttons are tone on tone meaning they match the color of the material.
Fit and Sizing
The sizing recommendation on Sézane’s website recommends taking a size down, and I find that sizing recommendation to be accurate. Even at a size below my normal size, the fit is relaxed. For reference, I’m wearing the XXS. The cardigan is on the longer side so I find a full tuck to be the most flattering way to wear it.
Overall Impressions
I think I may have a new Sézane favorite. I actually prefer the style of the Barry Cardigan with it’s v-neck design over the crewneck style of the Gaspard Cardigan. It’s so incredibly chic and feminine and makes me feel like a true Parisian when I wear it.
For my first time wearing this cardigan, I wore it tucked into black jeans under a camel blazer with black moto boots similar to the outfit seen here. But I also tried it tucked into a silk maxi skirt and loved that outfit as well. This would also make a good workwear option tucked into trousers with boots for the winter.
I would absolutely recommend the Barry Cardigan unless you’re highly sensitive to wool. The quality is excellent, and the style is timeless and so versatile.
