If I had to define my personal style, I would definitely call it ‘minimalist.’ I love creating capsule wardrobes made up of mostly classic, basic pieces that can be worn tons of ways. I don’t go for bright colors or fussy outfits with tons of accessories. I always feel more like myself in simple, chic, polished outfits that are classic, yet cool. With that in mind, I thought I’d take it back to basics today, and give you some ideas for minimalist outfits for early fall.
Minimalist Outfits For Early Fall
LOOK ONE

Striped Top // Linen Shorts (from a local boutique; similar) // Mules // Woven Bag // Sunglasses
I love a striped top (I’ve got two in this post!) and this one is perfect for fall. It’s quite boxy and cropped which I like, and the stripes are a rich brown color that goes perfectly with these loafer mules. Speaking of mules, they are one of my favorite transitional shoes as they make any outfit look really polished but are so easy to slip on and go.
LOOK TWO

Cardigan // White Tank // Denim Shorts // White Sneakers // Bag (code ASHLEYR15)
A sweater and denim shorts is one of my go-to uniforms for transitional weather, and with a cardigan sweater, you can easily remove it if the weather gets too warm during the day. This cardigan is a cotton-cashmere blend and really great quality. If you’re looking for a more affordable option, try this cropped cardigan which I own in the beige color.
LOOK THREE

Striped Tee // Denim (I sized down one; stay TTS for a looser fit) // Oxfords // Woven Bag
If I’m looking for an easy, don’t-need-to-think-too-much-outfit, I almost always grab a tee and denim. To make this outfit, a little more interesting, I added these modern oxfords that have trendy cut-outs on the sides.
LOOK FOUR

White Tank // Oversized Button Down // Denim Shorts (old Agolde style; similar) // Birkenstocks (more sizes here) // Bag (old from Everlane; similar)
For a minimalist look that is very on trend right now, try pairing a tank with an oversized button down worn open like a shacket. I’ve also been really into this light blue and black color combination lately. It’s not something I would have worn together five years ago, but I’m loving it now.
LOOK FIVE

Black Tee // Denim (size down one) // Birkenstocks (more sizes here) // Bag (code ASHLEYR15) // Sunglasses
This roundup of outfits is really showing that a few well fitting basics can easily translate into lots of outfits. A black tee, denim, and black Birkenstocks is a simple, but cool uniform that is perfect for early fall.
LOOK SIX

Tank // Trousers (limited sizing in this color; similar color here) // Sandals // Bag (Clare V. from TheRealReal; similar)
I’m going all in on the trouser trend this fall. I bought these wide leg trousers from Madewell in the spring and by the time I had them hemmed, it was too hot to wear them. They are almost sold out in this color, but this color is available and so pretty for fall. Petites beware – if you’re planning on wearing these with flats, you’ll definitely need to have these pants hemmed.
LOOK SEVEN:

White Tee // Denim // High Top Converse // Bag (old from Everlane; similar)
There is nothing more minimalist than a white tee and jeans. It’s classic. If you’re looking for more ways to style these high top Converse, see this post.
