The title of this post might be slightly misleading, but I wanted to highlight how I’ve been wearing this retro inspired striped sweater that I recently picked up from Madewell. I purchased this sweater as a layering piece for my spring wardrobe. I love the retro style collar and the oversized buttons. This sweater is ivory with olive green stripes (my fave non-neutral color to wear!) It’s really great quality, too, and hasn’t stretched out like cheap sweaters tend to do. I’m wearing the XS.

One Sweater, Two Ways
You know I love stripes for spring, but it’s still pretty chilly here in the mornings and evenings so a tee is just not going to cut it. I like to have a layer that I can remove, but still look polished without. For this look, wear your sweater normally in the morning then drape it over your shoulders when the weather warms up for the day.

Sweater // Black Tank // Denim (take your smaller size; they will relax a bit) // Sneakers // Sunglasses // Bag (use code ASHLEYR15)
I was absolutely inspired by one of my favorite style influencers for this outfit. I’ll be honest and say it took me awhile to come around to the sweater over the shoulders look as it seemed a little too preppy to me. However, over time, the trend grew on me, and here we are! I found with the right pieces this look can still be cool and casual which is what I’m always striving for.

To break down this outfit a bit, I really like styling this sweater with some distressed denim for contrast (see my full review of this pair here!) I also recommend pairing these jeans with a fitted tank as well to keep the proportions balanced. These slim white sneakers are always my go-to because they look polished but are still comfortable.

Next, throw on your favorite crossbody bag. I like a cognac color for this look to match the warm tones in this sweater. You can use my code ASHLEYR15 for 15% off this bag.
