What are your New Year’s Eve plans? We’ll probably just be hanging out at home playing games and watching movies. Whatever your plans, I put together six minimalist New Year’s Eve outfit ideas for different occasions from staying cozy at home to attending a fancy gala. In creating these outfits, I tried to keep the main pieces in each look items that you can rewear for other occasions. I added some fun accessories to make the look more New Year’s Eve appropriate. This a good strategy for building a versatile closet and not breaking the bank while still having a fun outfit.
This jumpsuit I’m wearing above from my holiday looks post would another good option for New Year’s Eve, but it has limited sizing available. And yes, I included a glass of champagne as an accessory for each outfit because obviously.

Cozy At Home

If you’re staying at home this year and want to be all cozy for a night of snacks and relaxing on the couch, this matching comfy set is for you! It’s currently on sale at Madewell. Throw on some slippers to keep those toes warm and maybe some hoop earrings if you’re looking to make yourself feel more put together.
Dressy At Home

If you’re staying home but still want to get a little dressed up for the heck of it, I recommend a classic silk button down and dark wash denim. The texture of the top feels fancy but is actually really comfortable. Add a little sparkly accessory like these earrings to make the outfit New Year’s appropriate. I added some block heel pumps to complete the look, but those are totally optional if you’re staying home.
Dinner Party

A small dinner party with friends is a good option for New Year’s Eve. For something like this, I would go with a tonal look with a taupe sweater and ecru denim which is elegant but trendy. I added some sparkly kitten heels which would be perfect for New Year’s Eve since they are dressy without being hard on your feet.

I know that sequins are really popular for New Years, but I wanted to pick a dress that you could rewear for any dressy occasion. A little black dress, especially a slip dress, works for all sorts of events including date night. Add an oversized black blazer for coverage and some sparkly accessories, and this outfit is perfect for a cocktail party.
