After coveting a pair of silk pants for a few months (see the full spring wishlist here), I finally snagged this pair from Reformation. I have to say, if you’re a soft pants aficionado, definitely consider adding a pair of silk pants to your closet. Whenever I get anything new, I almost always head straight to my closet and attempt to style it. The pictures here are what I came up with. I’ll definitely be styling these now and into summer.
A note that these pants are a bit more high maintenance than say a cotton, linen, or crepe pant because they are dry clean only. I have had to spot treat mine after wearing a couple times. I just sprayed with this cleaner, rinsed with cold water, and let it air dry. They were as good as new. But I try not to wear them when I’m cooking or planning to be outdoors all day. If you’re in the sticky kid season of parenting, I would consider holding off.
Now that that disclaimer is out of the way, here’s why I’m quite in love with these pants. First (and most importantly), the drawstring waist and generally silkiness make these the most comfortable pants I own. They are basically pajamas! Second, they add a beautiful texture to my outfits. When paired with a knit or linen, the whole look is texture city and so interesting. Third, they can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. Here, I’ve styled them in from daytime to dressy date night. Fourth, this exact pair comes in petite sizes so I didn’t have to have them hemmed. Yay!
For sizing on this pair from Reformation, I took my true size 0. For a more affordable (and washable) option, try this pair from Quince.
Silk Pants Outfits
With A White Tee, Sweater Over the Shoulders, & Loafers

Leather, suede, cashmere, oh my! So many textures happening in this first look. I love this and plan to wear some combination of this outfit MANY TIMES. To break it down, I’ve got on a plain long sleeve tee, black sweater tied around the shoulders, black leather loafers, and a suede tote bag.
With A Tee, Sweater Tied at the Waist, & Slingback Flats

Another way to style a sweater with these pants is to tie it around the waist. The knit adds another layer of texture. I’ve also got on a plain black tee and slingback flats.
With A Linen Button Down & Flip Flops

This look is so chic! I would wear this any day, but it seems like a really nice dinner at a resort look, doesn’t it? I’m wearing a brown linen button down shirt, but this could work with any button down you have. For spring I summer, I really like a linen or cotton poplin. I also added some easy flip flops (these were one of my most worn shoes last summer) and a woven brown bag.
With A Sweater Tank & Ballet Flats

This look is transitioning into summer with a tank and mesh flats. You could wear a plain tank with this, but I really think a knit tank with silk pants is the perfect duo. I added my new mesh flats and a black bag to finish off the look.
With A Leather Jacket & Flip Flops

This look combines leather and silk for a contrasting look that’s elegant with a bit of edge. There’s not many days where you can wear a leather jacket and flip flops so take advantage when you can. Swap the flip flops for flats if it’s a chilly day.
With A Nice Blouse & Strappy Heels

Here’s how I’d style these silk pants for a fancy event. One of the biggest tips I can give you for building a better wardrobe is to purchase pieces you can wear for multiple occasions. No more buying some mediocre last minute piece for that event you have – your closet can be fully stocked!
With A Sweater & Fisherman Sandals

And lastly, here’s how I’m styling these pants for a casual day with my kids. It’s comfy yet pulled together. This look features a relaxed fit sweater, fisherman sandals, and a canvas bag. I’ve probably already worn something very similar to this (see my Style Weekly posts on Substack for all my daily looks!)
That’s a wrap on these outfit ideas! I’ll definitely be referencing this post to create some spring and summer outfits. I also included these pants in my Early Spring Capsule Wardrobe. If you want to see even more outfit ideas, check out that post.
