I’m back with some more style inspiration featuring the minimal, classic, and effortless style of Katie Holmes. I’ve pulled a few of my favorite spring looks that she’s worn and recreated them with pieces you may own or can shop. As a reminder, I recommend using these as outfit formulas rather than trying to copy these exact looks. I have linked similar pieces for you to shop if there is an item you are missing from your wardrobe.
Let’s talk a bit about Katie Holmes’ style. She relies heavily on classic pieces like button downs, t-shirts, and jeans, but she typically adds little touches that make her look feel cool and relevant. From what I can see of her street style looks, she loves a ballet flat (me too, Katie!) and her tote bags (she’s practical, too!) She often wears a statement jacket to top her basic looks and while she goes very light on the accessories, she does add a little something like a pendant necklace, cat eye sunglasses, or a baseball cap.
Below, I’ve got eight of my favorite street style looks from Katie Holmes that you can use for your own style inspiration. I’m definitely going to be recreating some of these outfits this spring.

Outfit Formula: Crewneck Sweater + Suede Jacket + Low Slung Jeans + Ballet Flats

This first look is chic yet laid back. It combines a powder blue crewneck sweater, jeans, a suede jacket, and ballet flats. She’s mixed her colors perfectly here, but I would just use this as an ‘outfit formula’ to recreate this look using colors I already have in my closet. If you’re not into the low slung jeans, a relaxed fit pair would give the same vibe. Obviously, a true suede jacket is $$$$ so I’ve linked a vegan option below as well. This post also has more suede jacket styling ideas and suede jackets to shop.

Outfit Formula: Striped Button Down + Trench Coat + Full Length Jeans + Loafers

This is an outfit uniform I wear often in the spring. It’s a bit preppy but the a-line fit of the trench coat gives it a bit of flow and femininity. Let’s break it down. She’s got on a striped blue button down (she’s rolled up the sleeves of her trench so you can see the shirt, it’s a nice touch), a pair of medium wash jeans, classic black loafers, and what looks to be a black tote bag.

Outfit Formula: Crewneck Sweater + Cropped Pants + Wedges + Belt

This is a really simple outfit. It appears to me like she put this outfit together to highlight the wedges which make a bit of a statement. This type of shoe can be difficult to pull off, but I think she’s styled them here perfectly. She has on a simple relaxed fit beige sweater tucked into cropped black pants. She’s also added a black belt with silver hardware and a slouchy black tote bag. If you don’t own any wedges (or you’re just not into them), you could swap in a pair of chunky sandals. I own this pair that would work really well with this look.

Blazer + Tee + Slip Skirt + Pointed Toe Heels

I adore this evening look! It’s so simple yet so elegant. Let’s start with the blazer here. A blue suede blazer is really stunning, but you could switch in a blazer in a crepe material like I have here to save on $$$ or simply wear whatever color blazer you have. She’s paired her blazer with a plain white tee tucked into a black satin maxi skirt and pointed toe heels. For accessories, she has a black handle bag and gold dangle earrings. This is definitely a look I want to recreate for a nice dinner or evening event.

Outfit Formula: Black Tee + Off White Pants + Ballet Flats

This simple, casual look just might be my favorite of the bunch. It just looks so cool and effortless. She’s wearing a simple black tee with a pair of structured white pants, black ballet flats, a brown tote bag, and a baseball cap. I love the mix of colors here.

Outfit Formula: Button Down + Tan Cropped Pants + Mary Janes

This next look is also a favorite. Here, she is wearing a black button down top (this one looks to be linen or gauze) with a pair of tan chinos and black studded Mary Jane ballet flats. A big brown tote bag and cat eye sunglasses finish the look. This is giving minimal cool girl vibes.

Outfit Formula: Button Down + Cardigan + Straight Jeans + Mary Janes

This look is one you could probably recreate with items in your closet. Button down – check! Cardigan – check! Light wash jeans – check! Black flats – check! I do love the white button down here with the taupe colored grandpa oversized cardigan. She’s also wearing a huge brown woven bag and a pendant necklace.

Outfit Formula: Tee + Button Down + Blazer + Straight Jeans + White Sneakers

This last look is tailoring at it’s best. She’s got a few layers on here, starting with a white tee under a white button down and a gray blazer over that. She’s paired those with some black straight leg cropped jeans and white sneakers. That beautiful suede bag (I’ve linked the exact one below from DeMillier but here’s a more budget friendly option) really makes this look.
