I’m here to help you curate a wardrobe of stylish clothes you love to wear while embracing versatility and functionality. One of those wardrobe staples I truly believe suits everyone is a trouser – from a stay-at-home mom to a corner office executive. Not only are they versatile, going from work to weekend with ease, they are also supremely comfortable – almost pajama adjacent!
In this post, I’m showing you three ways to style trousers for different occasions, from work to weekend to date night. I’ve included three styled looks plus more trouser styling ideas for each occasion. Personally, I’m hoping to switch it up more often from my normal jeans outfits this year to different styles of pants, and this post gave me so many ideas!
Three Ways To Style Trousers For Spring
The trousers I’m styling in this post were gifted as part of a collaboration with Everlane, but this post is not sponsored. I have these pants in the shortest inseam option which is the 30″. As you can see there are just a bit too long for me, and I planned to have them hemmed to just graze the ground. For sizing reference, I always size down in Everlane pants.
For The Weekend

You may consider trousers a bit too ‘fancy’ for your lifestyle, but I’d like you to reconsider this. Trousers are just as comfy as leggings or joggers but look so much more chic and put together. I’m not saying don’t wear leggings or joggers ever just consider trousers as an alternative sometimes. Here, to keep things casual, I styled these wide leg trousers with a bold striped mariner top and fisherman sandals. You could also style them with a low profile sneaker like a Samba. To level this outfit up, add a sweater worn over the shoulders, some cool sunglasses, or a denim jacket or bomber jacket.

For The Office

If you want to look polished and put together for the office or for your work from home situation, a blazer is always the answer. I kept it casual with a slim fitting black tee which provides balance to the wide silhouette of the pants. Other trouser ideas for the office:
*Pair with a button down and loafers.
*Keep the blazer, but swap the tee for a sweater (try different weights to see what you prefer) and add a pair of heeled ankle boots.
*Try wearing your trousers with a tee under a button down worn open and a pair of ballet flats.
*An relaxed fit sweater plus trousers always works. Tuck in your sweater and be sure to add a belt to finish the look.

For Date Night

My go-to look for date night is usually a great pair of jeans and a fun top, but I like the idea of switching it up with a pair of trousers. Since they tend to be more menswear inspired, I think pairing them with something more feminine and pretty looks nice.
This wrap top gives a nod to the balletcore trend yet is obviously super classic. I like adding some dainty jewelry and putting my hair back into a sleek bun to really show off the neckline here.
Lastly, I added a pair of minimal kitten heels to dress it up a bit. I could also see this look styled with a bodysuit or sexy button front cardigan.
