Jeans are the backbone of my wardrobe, and today I’m sharing the best stores to buy denim from along with my favorite styles. To be honest, I’ve become a bit of a denim hoarder. My husband looked in my closet the other day and said, “Do you really need this many pairs of jeans?” To which I replied, “Yes, of course, they are all different fits and washes.” Then he shrugged and walked away. Whatever. He obviously doesn’t get it.
I wear jeans almost everyday as a stay-at-home-mom. Since I wear them so regularly, I like to have a few options. As I’ve gotten older though, I’ve learned that investing in quality denim is really the way to go. I used to buy 20 or 30 dollar pairs of jeans which never lasted. The most frustrating part about cheap denim is that they tend to “bag out” by the end of the day. To get the jeans back to their original fit, you have to wash them after each wear which results in the jeans breaking down much sooner. Once I started to invest in some nice denim, I was a believer. Quality denim will last you years!
My Favorite Stores for Denim
I’ve become very loyal to three different brands when I’m purchasing a new pair of denim. These retailers really have the best jeans, and I’ll tell you why I like each of them below.
Madewell
Madewell is my absolute favorite place to buy denim. The fit is really unmatched in my opinion. If you are looking for a really flattering pair of jeans, shop here. I have about 5 different pairs of Madewell jeans, and I turn to them the most when choosing an outfit.
Light Wash Jeans (similar) // Mid-Wash Jeans // Washed Black Jeans (similar)
My favorite fit is the Perfect Vintage Jean which I own in three different washes. This jean has a super high rise and are fitted through the waist and thighs with a tapered leg. They are so much more comfortable than skinny jeans, and if I’m running around with my kids all day, I need comfortable clothes. Two of these washes aren’t available or have limited stock, but I’ve linked similar options with the same fit.
Skinny Jeans
I also own one pair of Madewell Skinny Jeans which I reach for often. Again this exact wash isn’t available, but I linked a very similar option in the same fit. They have a variety of high rise options in petite and tall sizes. For reference, I’m 5′ 3″, and I always go with the petite.
Madewell jeans are obviously a more pricey option, but they go on sale every so often. In addition, I’ve had some of these jeans for years. They have lasted through so many wears and are still going strong with no bagging out or fading.
Everlane
I love Everlane denim. They have so many cool styles right now. I’ve been reaching for my straight leg jeans a lot more lately, and Everlane has so many options in this fit. I also own two pairs of their skinny jeans which I love. These jeans run between $68 to $78 dollars so they are a little more affordable than Madewell denim.
Deep Indigo Skinny Jeans // Black Skinny Jeans
I have two different pairs of the Authentic Stretch High Rise Skinny Jeans, one in black and another in the dark blue wash. These are my go-to skinny jeans. I will say that the petite does run a little long for me, and I have to cut the hems or crop them so they fit correctly. I know that the younger kids are saying skinny jeans are out, but I think a classic dark blue skinny jean is so chic and will always be in style.
White Jeans
I also own the Super Straight Jeans in White which aren’t available anymore, but the Cheeky Straight Jean is very similar, and what I’m linking above. I love having a looser fit like a straight leg in my white denim since white tends to show every bump and curve.
Abercrombie
The last place I buy denim from is Abercrombie. They have the best mom jeans, and the quality is really great for the price. They don’t bag out like cheap denim, and although they retail for about $90, they run great sales and you can get them for much cheaper. A sizing note for the mom jeans – I sized down one, but if you prefer a looser fit mom jean than stay true to size!
Those are, in my opinion, the best stores to buy denim from. I have heard great things about Agolde jeans and Levis jeans, but I have yet to try those brands. Maybe I’ll add them to my collection one day. Like I said above, investing in quality denim was such a good decision for me when it came to improving my wardrobe. Also, a little tip – don’t wash your jeans after every wear. I only wash my jeans after 15 or so wears or if they are looking dirty. They will last longer this way! Here is a link to my Shop page where you can see the jeans I’ve shared styled different ways.
