Today, I’m featuring the sweaters in my capsule wardrobe. I managed to collect a few over the last few months. If you’re still looking for some sweaters to add to your winter wardrobe, keep reading!
This year, I decided to invest in some nice sweaters that I know will last for years and years. I used to (and still do sometimes!) buy inexpensive sweaters from Target or Old Navy, but I found myself having to rebuy them every year because they would lose their shape after one season. All the sweaters I’m featuring in this post are high quality options that you will be able to wear next winter, too!
I included size and fit information for each sweater as well.
Sweaters In My Capsule Wardrobe
Mott and Bow Cashmere Crewneck Sweater
This sweater is the perfect light weight sweater to layer with all things this winter. It will also transition to spring very nicely. If you’re looking for a high quality basic cashmere crewneck sweater that will last you for years, this one should be on your radar. It fits true to size. If your size is sold out, this one from Everlane is very similar.
ABLE Harriet Slouchy Sweater
This mockneck sweater is the perfect oversized fit while still being able to tuck it in to jeans or pants. You can also pair this with leggings for a casual, but elevated look. It is so cozy! It has a dolman sleeve, and fits oversized; although, I have my true size and prefer the slouchy fit.
Everlane Oversized Alpaca Crew
I’ve been eyeing this sweater from Everlane for over a year and finally decided this fall to add it to my winter capsule. Although the material is mostly alpaca and merino wool, it only has just the slightest itch (and I’m very sensitive to natural fabrics.) This sweater comes in a bunch of great colors. I especially love the almond and warm taupe. The fit is pretty oversized, but I have my true size XS.
Banana Republic Mariner Stripe Sweater
This striped sweater from Banana Republic is so good! I love the thick stripes and wide sleeves. Very Parisian. I originally ordered the regular XS, but the sleeves were way too long, so I exchanged it for the petite. I find otherwise it fits true to size.
ABLE Irene Cardigan
I’ve really loved the button up cardigan look that’s been on trend recently. This cardigan from ABLE is made from organic cotton and has a beautiful feminine pattern. It’s a heavier weight than most cardigans like this so I feel comfortable wearing it without another layer during the winter. It is also pretty cropped. It fits true to size.
Everlane Texture Cotton Crew
I was looking for a more chunky knit to add to my winter capsule wardrobe when I purchased this crewneck sweater from Everlane. It has a slight drop shoulder and batwing sleeves, as well as a fun little stripe detail on the back shoulders (see the link!) It fits true to size. This is another sweater that will be perfect for those early spring days. You can tell the quality on this is really good too and won’t lose it’s shape over time like cheaper sweaters.
Mott and Bow Cashmere V-Neck Oversized Sweater
I wore this cashmere sweater a lot over the holidays. I love that the v-neck shows off a little skin. It’s also a lighter weight which makes it nice for layering under blazers and other outerwear. It fits true to size.
If you’re looking for ways to style sweaters this winter, I’ll be sharing styling ideas later this week. Check out this post for other must-have winter essentials.
