I recently began partnering with Sézane, a Parisian based clothing brand that specializes in high quality, French style pieces. To me Parisian style is chic, timeless, and effortless. Those are always my style goals when I’m putting together my outfits in the morning. One of the classic, most popular pieces in Sézane’s collection is the Gaspard Jumper. It is one of the first purchases for many people from this brand. In this post, I’m doing a review of the Gaspard Jumper and showing you how I would style it for each season. This sweater was gifted to me, but this blog post is unsponsored. As always, I’m sharing my honest opinion.
Sézane Gaspard Jumper Review
For this review, I’m going over the fabric, sizing and fit, and overall impressions.
Fabric Composition
The Gaspard Jumper is part mohair, part alpaca, and part polyamide which is a synthetic fabric. The natural fiber content of this sweater make it just slightly itchy. Personally, I am very sensitive to natural fabrics, and this sweater is fine for me. It is also worth noting that Sézane as a brand is working toward transparency and sustainability in their materials and manufacturing process. Their website reports that 3/4 of their materials are eco-friendly, and the company is B-Corp certified.
The Gaspard Jumper comes in a variety of colorways. I own the Ecru color which is shown in these photos. It also comes in many other colors – really any color you can imagine. I also considered getting the beige and black colors, as well as the Ecru/Gold stripe. The Ecru color is slightly sheer even with a nude bra so if that is an issue for you, stick to the darker shades.
Sizing and Fit
The Gaspard Jumper is meant to fit a little oversized, but I ended up sizing down to the XXS. Some reviews I’ve read said it runs true to size, but I find it to fit a little big. I’m usually an XS in most tops. If you’re looking for a slimmer fit, size down, but if you prefer a looser fit, stay true to size.
I like how this sweater can be worn several different ways: tucked into jeans with the buttons in front, front tucked with the buttons in the back, unbuttoned as cardigan with a cami or tank underneath, and even worn over the shoulders. You can choose to unbutton the top two or three buttons to make it more sexy or even unbutton the lower buttons for a different look. See below for the different ways I’ve styled it.
Overall Impressions
Overall, I think the Gaspard Jumper is an excellent addition to your wardrobe. It is perfect for a capsule wardrobe as it is very versatile and can be worn in multiple seasons. It’s also a very classic, timeless piece that will never go out of style. It retails at $120 here in the U.S. which I think is a fair price given the quality of the item.
How To Style The Gaspard Jumper For Each Season
Spring
Striped Tank // Gaspard Jumper // Off White Denim (I went down 2 sizes) // Sneakers // Bag // Sunglasses
Of course, I had to go really classic for spring by pairing my Gaspard Jumper with a striped tank. This look feels very coastal grandmother with it’s navy and white striped shirt and tonal vibes. I just have the cardigan thrown over my shoulders for this look, but you could just wear it as a cardigan to make the look more practical.
Summer
White Tank // Gaspard Jumper // Wide Leg Trousers (I sized down) // Nude Sandals // Woven Bag (similar) // Sunglasses
For a cool, warm weather outfit, try wearing your Gaspard Jumper over the shoulders for a preppy but modern look. I love the way a fitted tank looks with a sweater worn over the shoulders like this. Wide leg trousers make the look more trendy, too.
Fall
Gaspard Jumper // Blazer (old from Mango; similar) // Denim (I size down one) // Oxfords (code ASHROHR20) // Bag // Sunglasses
I think the versatility of this sweater is really apparent in these outfits as you can wear it on it’s own or layer it under things to create different looks. Here I have a blazer in a fall/winter pattern worn over the sweater for a casual chic look. The black jeans give it a little edge, too.
Winter
Gaspard Jumper // Denim (I went down 2 sizes) // Boots // Bag // Belt (old from Madewell; similar)
For winter, I’ve worn my Gaspard Jumper tucked into some high waisted wide leg denim with some square toed heeled brown booties. For this look, you can even turn the sweater around and have the buttons in the back. I would throw a chic oversized coat over this for winter.
