This week we are headed on a family trip to Seattle, and I’m sharing my packing list plus some outfit ideas. Danny and I lived in Portland for a few years, and we have been itching to go back to the Pacific Northwest for some time now. It’s just so beautiful there. We have been to Seattle before but not with the kids so this trip will be slightly different, obviously. We plan on doing a lot of touristy things and eating all the food we can possibly fit into our stomachs. I’ll be sharing our adventures on Instagram if you want to follow along.
Since we’ve lived in the area before, I have an idea of what the weather will be like in the Pacific Northwest. You may think of Seattle as rainy, but in the summer, the city gets very little rain so we are not planning on packing any rain gear. It does get a bit chillier there than in Kansas City especially in the mornings and evenings (can’t wait!) so I’m planning on bringing a few layers.
When I’m packing for a trip, I like to have lots of options so I always plan to pack plenty of versatile pieces that can be mixed and matched in several ways. I never know exactly what I am going to feel like wearing each day so options are necessary. I ended up packing 15 pieces, including seven tops (with 2 being outerwear), four bottoms, one dress, and three pairs of shoes, plus a few accessories.

I decided to see how many outfits I could make with the pieces I packed and ended up with 15. I could have created even more, but I ran out of daylight!
I’m bringing along a pair of joggers to wear on travel days. I also chose my most comfortable shoes for this trip. I usually pack a pair of heels, but Seattle is not fancy, and people there tend to dress pretty casually. I’m leaving my dressier clothes at home.

I found your blog via Pinterest when searching for “fall capsule 2022”. For the last couple of years I’ve really wanted to do a capsule to help declutter my closet (and mind!). Love your style and tips! Your photos help a lot when trying to picture how to re-wear different pieces together. Hopefully I can get it together this year! Enjoy Seattle! Me and my hubs live here! Cheers!
