Summers mean tank tops and strappy dresses which means strapless bras are what I’m wearing most days. I don’t know about you, but I hold a major dislike for strapless bras. They are so uncomfortable and constantly sliding down. That’s why I’m so happy I found a better option! In this post, I’m giving a review of Nippies Nipple Covers – my new favorite ‘bra’ option for tanks and dresses this summer. I’ve been wearing them almost daily for the past month! This is not sponsored, I just wanted to share an honest opinion of this bra alternative that I’ve been loving lately.
Review Of Nippies Nipple Covers
What Are Nippies?
Nippies is a brand of reusable nipple covers meant for wearing with strapless and backless garments. They are made of medical grade silicone and have an adhesive side that sticks to your nipples to make the area appear smooth. Nippies have a tapered edge to ensure a seamless appearance. They also come with a travel case for easy packing. Nippies come in 2 sizes – small for A-C cup sizes and large for D+ cup sizes and three different colors for different skin tones. I purchased the Créme color.
How Well Do They Stick?
I’ve actually been super impressed with how well Nippies stick to my skin even during hot and humid weather and (TMI) lots of sweating. I’ve been wearing mine in 95+ degree heat, and they don’t budge. It is, however, important to keep them clean (more on that below) because oils from the skin or skincare products will affect their ability to stick properly.
Do They Provide Any Support?
They are not supportive in any way. I’m an A cup size so I can’t speak on how they would feel for large chested women, but the lack of support does not bother me. It did take some getting used to, but after wearing them several times, I don’t even think about it anymore. I’ve found that when wearing some tops like stretchy or drapey tanks, it will give you that braless Farrah Fawcett vibe (i.e. your breasts will not look as round or full) which I personally don’t mind, but if that bothers you, you may want to stick with wearing Nippies with more form fitting tops that give you some built in support. For a visual, I’m wearing them in every outfit in this post.
How Long Do They Last?
Like I said, I’ve been wearing mine almost daily for about a month, and they have not lost their stickness at all. I’ve heard from others that they last 2-3 months and also from others that they last for much longer. I think it’s really up to how well you care for them.
Updated to add that after 3 months of almost daily wear, I did find I needed to replace them as they lost some of their stickiness.
How Do You Care For Them?
After a day of wearing the nipple covers, I gently wash with cool water and a gentle soap and leave on the counter, cup side up, to dry overnight. Like I said, if you want them to remain sticky, you need to make sure to remove any oils or products that have transferred from your skin.
For travel, the Nippies come with 2 plastic covers to stick each nipple cover to, as well as a travel case. I personally brought them along on a weekend trip, and this process was seamless.
Overall Impressions?
I truly love them! I’m so much more comfortable with these nipple covers than I ever was with an annoying strapless bra. These are the perfect alternative for any strapless, spaghetti strap, or one shoulder tanks or dresses. I even wear them with normal tank tops as well, they are that comfortable.
The only downside is the lack of support. Like I said above, if you are large chested, I’m not sure these would be a good daily option for you unless you’re comfortable going braless; although I think they would be a great option for special occasion dresses.
