Shacket // Mockneck Sweater (similar, similar) // Faux Leather Leggings // Beanie // Winter Boots // Sunglasses
I’m not usually one that hops on to trends, but after seeing the “shacket” or shirt jacket take over the style world this fall and winter, I couldn’t help but get caught up in it. As far as trends go, it fits pretty well in to my personal style. It’s masculine, casual, and has a ‘cool’ vibe. I purchased this neutral colored shacket in January, and I’m really into it.
Even though the shacket trend will probably only stick around till the end of winter, I always prefer pieces in my wardrobe to last more than just one season. With this in mind, I was brainstorming ways to style this shacket through the Spring. Here in Kansas, an outer layer will be needed till at least May with chilly temperatures in the morning and evening still hanging around.
In this post, I’m sharing five tips for taking your shacket from winter to spring. With temperatures in the single digits this week, I’m anxiously awaiting the arrival of Spring, sunshine, and flowers blooming.
This shacket is selling out quickly, but I’ve linked some similar affordable neutral shacket options at the end of this post that will transition nicely to Spring.
Tip One: Switch out your thick base layer (i.e. your sweater or turtleneck) for a light weight graphic tee.
In my winter outfit, I’m wearing a warm mockneck sweater that provides just enough warmth to keep me from shivering indoors (I’m cold all the time). For Spring, I’ll ditch this thick sweater for a light weight tee. I like how a graphic tee adds interest to this outfit; although, if your shacket has color and pattern, a plain tee would work nicely.
Tip Two: Stow those winter boots away and grab a pair of white sneakers.
I can’t wait to put away all my winter boots and pull out my mules, loafers and sneakers. Although, let’s be honest here, I wear my sneakers year round even though they aren’t exactly meant for winter; they are the perfect mom shoe. These shoes are so comfortable and easy to throw on for a walk to the park or errands.
Tip Three: Go for a light wash distressed denim instead of black leggings or dark wash jeans.
Shacket // Graphic Tee // Jeans // Sneakers // Baseball Hat
When Spring rolls around, I like to trade dark wash jeans and black leggings for lighter washes. These high rise distressed mom jeans are perfect for spring. The distressing is perfectly done, and they are fitted on the waist, but loose through the thighs and calves. I ordered the ankle length in one size down from my normal size.
Tip Four: Roll up the sleeves of your shacket to expose a little wrist.
This is a style tip I learned a few years back from another blogger – always roll or scrunch your sleeves to expose your wrists. It instantly makes the outfit appear more feminine and ‘styled.’ Obviously, in the winter, I’m not exposing any part of my body to the cold, but once warm weather comes around, I’m doing this with every long sleeve top.
Tip Five: Switch out that warm beanie for a baseball hat or cute headband.
And my last tip is to (obviously) get rid of that beanie and add a spring-like accessory like a baseball cap or a headband. I never thought I could pull off a baseball hat until I found this one. I love the color and quality.
I hope this gives you some inspiration to keep styling that shacket of yours though the Spring. It can’t get here soon enough! Below I’ve linked some similar shacket options.

I just got one and was afraid it was getting too warm already. Thanks for the tips!
I’m always cold, so I plan on wearing mine for the next few months. LOL!
