During the winter season, I like to shake up my usual outfits with blue and black denim by swapping them for white denim. It’s an easy way to change up an outfit and make it pop. If you too are looking to change up your usual winter outfits by trying white jeans, be sure to read through this post. I have four tips and tricks for creating chic outfits with white denim and four ways to style white denim in winter.
TIPS FOR STYLING WHITE DENIM IN WINTER
Styling white denim can be a bit tricky even in the warmer months so I have a few tips for you.
- In winter, opt for an off-white color like ecru instead of pure white which doesn’t look quite as harsh and summery. Ecru denim also tends to be less see through then stark white denim. But just in case, I always choose nude undergarments.
- Keep it chic by styling your white jeans with neutrals. You can totally wear white with colors if that’s your preference. But for a more polished and smart outfit, I prefer shades of neutrals.
- Choose wintery fabrics and prints. To avoid looking like you’re ready for beach, skip the linen and thin cotton and opt for cold weather fabrics like fleece and wool. Along those same lines, I prefer to avoid feminine prints like florals with white denim as it looks too springy. Instead, style your white denim with prints like plaid and herringbone.
- Play with texture. To make your look more interesting, be sure to add different textures and fabrics. For instance, try pairing your white jeans with a knit sweater then add a leather bag and metallic earrings.
Below, I’ve put together four outfits with white denim to inspire you this winter. The pair I’m stying here is the Madewell 90s Straight Jean which has a modern but easy to style silhouette. Fit wise, I took my smaller size and the petite length. For a baggier fit, try sizing up.

HOW TO STYLE WHITE JEANS IN WINTER
WITH PRINTS
The Larsen Blazer // Rib Square Neck Sweater Tank // 90s Straight Jean // Bennie Loafer // The Essential Bucket Tote // Pierport Sunglasses // Puffy Medium Hoop Earrings
Lean into winter by pairing your white jeans with a plaid blazer. Layer it with a sweater or sweater tank depending on your climate. I love this masculine forward look with loafers (add socks for winter!) but a cute pair of ballet flats would add some femininity.

Waffle-Knit Rib-Knit Cardigan // 90s Straight Jean // The Vernon Loafer // Slinky Ribbed Trouser Socks // The Essential Bucket Tote // Russell Oval Sunglasses // Chunky Small Hoop Earrings
There is nothing more chic than a tonal outfit. Choose pieces for your outfit that fall in the same color family. For white jeans, any shades of ivory, tan, and brown will look elegant and sophisticated.

Brushed Ruched-Front Top // The Oversized Trucker Jean Jacket // The 90s Straight Jean // The Dimes Kitten-Heel Boot // The Sydney Crossbody Bag // Puffy Medium Hoop Earrings // (Re)Sourced Cuffed Beanie
On the opposite end, try pairing your white jeans with contrasting colors. I particularly like the color combination of black, green, and white which looks fresh and trendy.

Another color family that goes so well with white denim is shades of gray and silver. A gray cashmere cardigan layered under a denim shirt with silver ballet flats makes a look that is minimal yet interesting.
