A couple weeks ago, I shared four Thanksgiving outfit ideas, and one included this olive green knit dress. It might be one of my favorite things I’ve bought this fall. I had been searching around for a fall dress that I could dress up or wear more casually, and this is THE ONE. First of all, I love this olive green color. It’s one of the few colors that I actually wear regularly outside of my beloved neutrals. This dress also fits just perfectly – it isn’t too tight so that it clings to all the lumps and bumps, and it isn’t too loose that it looks like a sack. The knit feels like really good quality, and I love the little slit that ends on the lower thigh.
I don’t normally buy too many dresses as they aren’t that versatile, but I wanted to challenge myself to come up with different ways to style this knit dress. I ended up with five different ways that I’m sharing here. You could use these ideas for any fall or winter dress you have in your closet. To transition this dress for winter, I would style it with a pair of black or brown knee high boots, and some thick tights. For sizing recommendations, I stuck with my true size XS.
Five Ways To Style A Knit Dress
LOOK ONE: With A Plaid Blazer And Light Colored Ankle Boots
Green Dress // Plaid Blazer (TTS; similar) // Boots (code ASHLEYBOOTS20) // Bag (Code ASHLEYHOLIDAY40) // Necklace
This is one of two blazer looks I’m sharing in this post! I think a blazer over a dress is such a good combo as it pairs masculine and feminine pieces for a contrasting look. This plaid blazer is thick and warm and will work through the winter. I love it paired with these boots from Wilder, a small brand that I partner with, but you could also style them with a pair of white ankle boots that are really popular right now.
LOOK TWO: With A Leather Jacket and Black Flats
Leather Jacket (code ASHLEYHOLIDAY40; similar) // Green Dress // Slingback Flats // Belt // Clutch (vintage; similar)
I’d wear this look for a casual dinner or date night with the family. You could also switch the black flats for some black knee high boots when the weather gets colder. I’m on the hunt for a pair!
LOOK THREE: With A Black Blazer And Black Ankle Boots
Blazer (old from Old Navy; similar) // Green Dress // Ankle Boots // Belt // Bag // Necklace
Here’s how I would style this green dress for the office. I added a relaxed black blazer, a black belt, ankle boots, and a tote bag to make this look more professional. I would actually wear this outfit in my everyday life as a work-from-home/stay-at-home mom. It’s my favorite!
LOOK FOUR: With A Brown Belt and Brown Ankle Boots
Green Dress // Brown Belt (old from Madewell; similar) // Brown Boots (old from ABLE; similar) // Necklace // Bag
I really like that this dress pairs equally well with black and brown tones. I included this look as a Thanksgiving outfit idea in my late fall capsule wardrobe. Earthy tones like greens and browns are perfect for this holiday.
LOOK FIVE: With Chelsea Boots and A Crossbody Bag
Green Dress // Bag // Chelsea Boots (similar) // Socks // Necklace
For a more casual look, try pairing your dress with some Chelsea boots. I added some tan socks to this outfit. I’m loving the exposed sock trend (finally a trend that’s practical!)
