In this post, I’m sharing six elevated ways to style a hoodie. We all probably have a few hoodies in our closet, most likely purchased during the pandemic when all we wore was loungewear. If you’ve got some hoodies lying around and you’re looking to style them for out and about, I’ve got some ideas for you.
I’m styling two colors of hoodies, one taupe and one black. I’m also hoping to add a gray hoodie to my collection for spring. Both of mine are from H&M. The listing says the hoodie is oversized, but it’s really not. I’m wearing my true size XS.
Elevated Ways To Style A Hoodie
With A Blazer and Converse

Hoodie // Blazer (old from Old Navy; similar) // Denim (exact wash is old) // High Top Converse // Bag // Sunglasses
I love the look of a blazer paired with some high top Converse for an elevated casual look. It was one of the looks I shared in this post with ways to style Converse. Adding a hoodie underneath the blazer not only adds warmth, but also little extra detail with the hood poking out the back. It’s very street style especially when paired with a more oversized blazer.
With Leggings And An Oversized Coat

Hoodie // Coat (similar) // Leggings (similar) // Sneakers // Socks // Beanie
A hoodie paired with an oversized coat is very on trend right now. I think the look is SO cool. I also added my new favorite casual sneakers. This pair comes in and out of stock frequently so if they’re sold out, keep checking back. Also, a note regarding these leggings. If you’re petite like me, go with the 7/8 length and if you’re not, go with the regular length. Both options linked above.
With A Denim Jacket and Boots

Hoodie // Denim Jacket (I sized down) // Denim (I sized down) // Boots (similar) // Bag
Pairing a hoodie with a denim jacket is very classic and will always be in style. I particularly like the effect of the longer chore jacket paired with a hoodie that’s half tucked, but you could just wear any denim jacket you have in your closet. This exact chore jacket is from Sézane, and I can’t stop raving about it.
With A Puffer Coat And Sneakers

Hoodie (old from H&M; similar) // Denim (I sized down 2 sizes) // Sneakers // Coat (old from J.Crew; similar) // Beanie // Sunglasses
To really elevate a casual hoodie like this, wear pieces in similar tones. You could even swap the off white denim here for some tan or beige leggings or joggers. I always recommend tonal dressing for a chic and stylish look.
With An Oversized Coat And Boots

Hoodie (old from H&M; similar) // Coat // Denim (I sized down) // Boots (code ASHLEYBOOTS20) // Bag (code ASHLEYR15)
Here is another look with an oversized coat. This one is a little more dressed up. I love that the hoodie, coat, and boots are all similar tones, but they don’t have to match. This coat runs very oversized. I’m wearing the XS.
With A Trench Coat And White Sneakers

Hoodie (old from H&M; similar) // Denim (I sized down) // Trench Coat (I sized down) // Sneakers // Bag (code ASHLEYR15)
This last look is more for spring than winter, at least where I live (something to look forward to!) Try pairing your hoodie with a chic trench coat and slim cut white sneakers for a casual daytime look.
