In my quest to expand my wardrobe beyond jeans, I’ve been shopping around for more skirts, dresses, and jumpsuits. The Dissh Reign Dress has been on my radar for years after first seeing it on a few other influencers. Over the past two years, it’s become very popular with reviewers touting its good quality and flattering fit. So after having the dress on my wishlist for several months, I finally purchased it. In this post, I’ll be providing a Dissh Reign Dress review with sizing and fit details (especially for petites!) As well as my thoughts on the quality, fabric composition, and overall impressions.

Dissh Reign Dress Review

ABOUT DISSH
Dissh is an Australian brand that originally opened it’s first store in 2001 (with a very different vibe might I add.) It went through a major rebrand in 2020 with the introduction of the minimalist aesthetic it’s known for today. Their designs are modern, simple, and effortlessly cool.

FABRIC & QUALITY
After waffling back and forth on which color of the Reign Dress I should get, I eventually landed on the black. It also comes in beige and white, but I was worried about potential stains as I have two kids and also live in a city where it rains often and muddy sidewalks are commonplace.
When I first removed it from the package it was shipped it, I immediately noticed the sheer weight of the dress itself. It is QUITE heavy. The dress material is a heavy weight stretchy knit made of 65% viscose and 35% nylon.
Overall, I think the dress is really well made and good quality. From my initial impressions, I think it will last a long time in my closet. It is machine washable on cold with instructions to line dry and store folded.

FIT & SIZING
The Dissh Reign Dress is fitted through the bodice and has a very slight a-line skirt. It comes with an adjustable tie at the back which I think does wonders for a knit dress in giving you shape and curves. The cuffs and bottom also have a lettuce hem which is another interesting detail.

The dress is slim fitting but not too tight and feels very comfortable for me. If you’re concerned about highlighting your midsection, note that this dress does show lumps and bumps in that area. You could potentially opt for shapewear to layer underneath if that bothers you.
The Dissh Reign Dress is designed to be a midi dress but fits like a long maxi on my 5’3″ frame. This isn’t unusual for me, but it does seem much longer than other midi dresses I’ve tried. Even in my tallest boots pictured here, the dress almost hits the ground. I plan to take mine to a tailor to have it taken up a few inches. The sleeves are also very long which makes this dress less practical in my opinion.

The neckline is cut low, and shows a small amount of cleavage. I have small chest, and this really isn’t a concern for me. If you are looking for more modesty in this area, try the Dissh Ada Dress which is exactly the same as the Reign Dress except it has a crewneck rather than a v-neck.
For sizing, I went with my true size XS. I think it runs true to size if not slightly large. If you have a very petite frame, this dress may not work for you unless you have it tailored.

OVERALL IMPRESSIONS
The Dissh Reign Dress is really beautiful, and I’m glad to have it in my closet. It makes a statement without being too fancy. I could see myself wearing this casually with sandals or slim sneakers and a denim jacket or more dressed up with heels and shoulder bag.
While I love it, I wouldn’t recommend this dress if you’re looking for an everyday dress for mom life. The sleeves are quite long, and I think they would get in the way while washing dishes or taking care of young kids.
Also consider that if you’re shorter than 5’3″ you will probably have to have this dress shortened at the tailor. I considered leaving mine the length it is, but I know I’ll get much more wear out of it if I can wear it with flats as well as heels.
I also tried a few linen pieces from Dissh that I really liked including this white linen dress and these black linen shorts both of which I’m taking on my upcoming beach vacation. Note that their linen pieces run small, and I would recommend sizing up.
