A basic tank is one of my spring and summer essential items. During the spring, I’m layering them under jackets and blazers and in the summer, I’m pairing them with some cut-off denim shorts and sandals. Once I find a style I like, I usually buy it in a few colorways. In this post, I’m showing you my new favorite basic tanks for spring and summer.

My Favorite Basic Tanks For Spring and Summer
I’ve been really into the wider cut bottoms lately, like straight leg and wide leg styles. I haven’t worn my skinny jeans in more than a year! It took a little bit of trial and error to nail down the styling of these styles of denim and pants. What I found is that when wearing a wider cut bottom, it’s best to balance the proportions with a slimmer fitting top either on it’s own or paired with an outer layer.
This is why I love these exact tanks. They are more fitted than other tanks, but not too tight like a bodysuit. They have a ribbed texture and a lovely high neck line that is modern and flattering. The tank is also cut in slightly on the arms which I really like, too.

They come in petite and tall sizes as well. I wear petite in my bottoms because I need a shorter inseam for my legs, but my torso fits regular tops so I am wearing the regular length. I find it fits true to size. I’m wearing the XS.
This tank also comes in so many trendy color options. I currently own this Maverick Tan (which appears more olive than tan, in my opinion), black, and white colors. I will say the white color is a tad sheer even with a nude bra, but that doesn’t bother me.
Ways to Style A Basic Tank For Spring and Summer

There are so many ways to style this tank for spring and summer, but I’ll share a few of my ideas below.
For Spring
- Layer under a trench coat or blazer with your favorite pair of denim for a chic layered look that works well for those days when the weather is cold in the morning but hot in the afternoons.
- Pair with a pair of wide leg pants and flats like mules for a modern and trendy outfit.
- Pair with a pair of cut-off shorts and a cotton cardigan and sandals.
For Summer
- Wear your basic tank with some trendy tailored shorts and leather sandals.
- Pair your tank with a midi skirt and slide sandals for a comfortable, but dressy look that will still keep you cool when the weather warms up.
- Elevate a tank and denim shorts outfit with cool accessories like a belt bag, padded sandals, and sunglasses.
