Happy December! We are spending our first Christmas season here in Seattle. I’ve always held my Christmas traditions very close so being in a new place this time of year feels a little unfamiliar. I made a list of new traditions and activities to do here in our new city a few weeks ago, and we checked off a few of them over the last two weeks.
After Thanksgiving, we drove out of the city to a tree farm to cut down our Christmas tree, the most Pacific Northwest Christmas tradition if there ever was one. And this past weekend, we attended the new Seattle Christmas Market which is a quaint German-style Christmas Market set up in Seattle Center. We ate bratwurst, sipped hot chocolate, and shopped the huts where vendors were selling handmade goods. It was adorable.
STYLE
This past week on Stitch & Salt, I shared a few holiday outfit ideas (linked here and here) which I’m picturing below. I’ll be getting back to my regular, everyday outfits this week. You can see past outfits on the Daily Looks section of my blog.
FOOD
Here’s a recap of the recipes we cooked this week. Lillie Eats and Tells had a Cyber Week sale on her cookbooks so I grabbed her newest release, ONE More Time. I don’t count macros, but I do look for recipes with a good amount of protein, and Lillie’s recipes are always protein rich and full of vegetables. One thing about me and meal planning is that I typically choose one cookbook or website to cook from for the week so all these recipes are from this cookbook. I like that each recipe makes enough leftovers to have for lunches throughout the week.
Monday: Saucy Tomato and Red Pepper Salmon from ONE More Time. So quick and easy, we served ours with fresh bread.
Tuesday: Tuscan Meatballs With Gnocchi from ONE More Time. The kids are big gnocchi fans (me too!) so this was a big hit.
Wednesday: Korean Inspired Beef Bowls from ONE More Time. This was a savory beef that we served over rice with carrots, cucumbers, a fried egg, and sriarcha.
Thursday: Southwestern Quinoa Bake from ONE More Time. A delicious casserole with Mexican flavors, quinoa, and chicken.
Friday: Pizza Night! We grabbed some dough from the store and topped it with fresh mozzarella, chicken sausage, bell pepper, and jalapeños (on the adult side.)
Saturday: Take Out from Buddha Ruksa, a local Thai place
Sunday: Bratwursts and Hot Chocolate from The Seattle Christmas Market
ENTERTAINMENT
I’ve just about wrapped up this book about aging, and although it is long and a bit morbid, it has been really enlightening. The authors recommendations do seem a bit unrealistic in total, but I’ve gained a few good insights that I plan on implementing in my own life. I’m definitely going to be looking for a lighter read for my next book!
We finished the Great British Baking Show on Netflix, and I’m a little sad that it’s over. It’s just a nice, heartwarming show to watch in the hours before bed. I plan to start the new holiday episodes of Virgin River (it looks so incredibly cheesy, but it’s Christmastime so bring it on!)

Just found your website because I am a mom of a one year old trying to find my style again. I’ve always loved dressing myself and been super inspired even was voted most fashionable in highschool. But as a mom I have totally lost my mojo to dress myself and I’m not sure what even inspires me. I just throw on jeans and a sweater. Your suggestions are so chic and put together yet so mom friendly! Thank you! Also I pick one source for the week of meal planning too. It makes things more fun.
Hi Jessica! Thank you! That makes me happy to hear. I felt the same way when my kids were younger. 🙂
