In this post, I’m showing you five summer to fall transitional outfits that are perfect for the season between summer and fall.
Anybody else always jump to their fall wardrobe when it still feels like summer outside? Raises hand. I’m usually very anxious to put away all my boring tank tops and shorts for classic fall pieces like blazers and jeans. Unfortunately, it’s still a little too hot for layering so I like to transition my wardrobe through the use of fall colors and textures.
One of my favorite colors to wear during fall is rust or this dark orange color so you’ll see that in 2 outfits below. I also like to wear knit fabrics in lighter pieces like this sweater tank. And finally, one of my favorite combinations for this season is jeans and a tank top so you’ll see that basic outfit styled below as well.
Summer to Fall Transitional Outfits
LOOK ONE: Rust Colored Blouse + Denim Shorts + Mules
Top (old from Madewell, similar) // Denim Shorts // Mules
This top is one of my favorites to wear in the fall, and you’ll be seeing it a ton in the next few months, but unfortunately it is 2 years old and sold out. However, I did find a current one also from Madewell that is really similar that I linked above. I love this combination of a long-sleeved blouse and denim shorts as it still feels casual but slightly elevated. This outfit pairs really well with a pair of mules, too.
LOOK TWO: Tank + Denim + Sandals
Black Tank // Straight Leg Denim // Sandals (old from Old Navy, similar) // Bag
I mentioned above that I also love wearing a tank top and jeans during this fall transition season. It is one of the few times in the year that this outfit is weather appropriate. Of course, feel free to add a jacket or blazer when the weather turns chilly. I also grabbed my new fanny pack (in love!) and these old heeled sandals from Old Navy to pair with this. In my everyday life, you can bet I’m just wearing a pair of flats, though.
LOOK THREE: T-Shirt Dress + Denim Jacket + Sneakers
T-Shirt Dress // Denim Jacket // Sneakers (limited sizing, similar) // Sunglasses // Bag
This t-shirt dress was a purchase from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. I love the oversized fit. I plan on also belting it and wearing it with some flats this fall, too. A t-shirt dress works perfectly for my casual lifestyle, but you could really wear any dress with a jacket and sneakers.
LOOK FOUR: Rust Colored Tee + Black Jeans + Leopard Print Mules
Top // Jeans (old from Madewell, current version in same style) // Mules // Bag
Here is another rust colored top option for you. This time I paired it with my washed black denim and leopard print mules. These jeans are the Perfect Vintage style from Madewell, and the exact wash is unavailable, but I linked a similar version in the same cut and similar wash above. Here is another rust colored top option for you as well.
LOOK FIVE: Sweater Tank + Black Pants + Sandals
Sweater Tank // Black Cropped Pants // Sandals
The sweater tank is a good way to add cozy fall vibes without being too heavy. I also love this brown/tan color for fall and especially so when mixed with black. Try it!
If you’re looking for more fall transitional outfits, I also recently shared this post with all my outfits from last week that has six more easy ideas for you. These biker shorts outfits would also work great for this fall transitional weather.
