I’m starting a style series on my blog today! Each month, I’m going to pick 10 pieces (tops, bottoms, and shoes) and show you how to style them 10 ways.
The idea behind a 10×10 is to use a few pieces in your wardrobe and style them lots of different ways. This practice can show you how versatile a small wardrobe can be if you make thoughtful purchases of items that go together and can be styled several different ways. Add in a few fun accessories, and you’ll have lots of different outfits!
Below you’ll find the pieces I selected for this 10×10. I chose 6 tops, 3 bottoms, and 2 pairs of shoes. Links for all the items are listed when available.
Tops
White Long Sleeved Bodysuit (old from Abercrombie, similar)
Black Puff Sleeve Tee
Tan Cardigan (limited stock, similar)
Denim Chore Jacket (sold out, similar)
Gray Mock-Neck Sweater (sold out, similar)
Bottoms
Black Skinny Jeans
White Straight Leg Jeans (exact pair no longer sold, very similar)
Straight Leg Jeans
Shoes
Outfit One
I love this black puff sleeve top. It wears very comfortably, but also the puff sleeve makes it more than just a black tee. It’s perfect for my wardrobe because it can be styled as a layer under cardigans and jackets, but is also special enough to look cute on its own.
Outfit Two
This cardigan is almost sold out, but I linked a similar version that is a bit more cropped. They still could be styled the same way. I just picked up these boots with some Christmas money, and I love them. They are super affordable and run true to size. They are a bit narrow through the middle so they may not work for wide feet.
Outfit Three
These sneakers are probably the most worn item in my wardrobe. I’ve worn them probably 100 times. They are so comfortable. I sized down a half size. This exact pair of straight leg jeans from Everlane is no longer available, but I linked a very similar version above. I always get the ankle or petite length in my jeans (I’m 5′ 3″, but have very short legs), I also cut the hem on these to shorten them even farther. I like how the leopard bag adds a little bit a pattern to this outfit.
Outfit Four
I just received this mock-neck sweater for Christmas, but its already sold out. Damn! I linked a similar turtleneck sweater from J.Crew. Adding a leopard headband and simple jewelry takes this outfit up a notch.
Outfit Five
Another outfit with this mock-neck sweater and black boots. I received this bag strap for Christmas, and I love the interest it adds to my outfit.
Outfit Six
This outfit feels very me. This denim chore jacket is from Walmart of all places, but unfortunately it’s sold out. I linked a similar one from Everlane, but obviously that one is more pricey. Any denim jacket would work for this outfit. I also received this hat for Christmas, and I love it.
Outfit Seven
First look with this bodysuit. I’ll be honest and say that I don’t wear this bodysuit very often. Perhaps the thought of a pulling it on and buttoning it up seems a little too complicated for the morning. But once it’s on, it’s actually pretty comfortable. You also don’t have to worry about your shirt coming untucked all the time if you’re like me and front tuck every top.
Outfit Eight
This backpack is 5 years old from Everlane, and it looks exactly the same as when I bought. It was used almost daily as a diaper bag. It really says something about the quality of Everlane’s products. Those diaper bag days have come to end for me, but I do recommend using a backpack as a diaper bag because your arms will be free to carry a kid or a car seat (or both!). #momlife
Outfit Nine
I love the tonal look that is really popular these days. This outfit has different shades of similar colors. I like this article that goes in to more detail about how to style this type of outfit.
Outfit Ten
The last outfit in my 10×10!. All black with a denim jacket and sneakers. So easy and perfect for running errands or doing mom things. Love it.
