Once November hits, the holiday events start ramping up. You probably have a few get-togethers on your calendar plus any holiday traditions you do each year. If you’re wondering what to wear for all these holiday occasions, I’ve got you covered! In this post, I’m sharing a bunch of outfit ideas for different holiday occasions, everything from what to wear to a Christmas market, to a kid’s holiday concert, to a Christmas tree lighting, and more.
These outfits are festive but mostly neutral since that’s the way I prefer to dress (even for the holidays!) I hope this post makes it a little easier to get dressed this holiday season.
What To Wear This Holiday Season
Getting The Christmas Tree
Every year, we pick out a real Christmas tree. Now that we live in Washington, the Christmas tree farms are plentiful. You’ll want an outfit that’s warm and comfortable with shoes made for tromping around outside in snowy or muddy conditions. For this look, I chose a wool sweater (this one is made from Merino wool and not itchy!) with a big collar to keep you toasty warm, a cozy puffer coat, a beanie, and one of my favorite pairs of all-weather boots.

A Tree Lighting
If you like to dress a little festive without going full on holiday maximalist, try a fairisle sweater with it’s wintery knitted pattern. To keep this outfit chic and warm, I combined this sweater with a wool coat, straight leg jeans, heeled ankled boots, and a wool beanie.

A Kid’s Holiday Concert
If you’re a parent, I know you’ve got some special holiday concerts to attend. You’ll want to look fun and festive but also be comfortable while watching those adorable little ones sing their hearts out. To achieve this, I paired a red sweater with a camel blazer, fun gold flats, and gold hoop earrings.

A Christmas Market
We’ve been to a few traditional German Christmas markets, one in Seattle and another in Chicago. They are one of my favorite holiday activities. Everyone walks around sipping mulled wine, snacking on pretzels, and shopping the local vendors. For this holiday activity, I like to dress cozy and chic. For this, I paired a mockneck sweater with slim cut jeans, and knee high boots. I added my favorite lightweight wool coat and a tote bag to hold all your market finds. Add a beanie, gloves, and a scarf if the weather is particularly cold that day.

Friendsgiving
Here is an outfit idea if you have any Friendsgiving events planned this season. I recommend this polished but comfortable silk button down, elastic waist pants so you can enjoy the delicious food, and a fun pair of kitten heels.

A Holiday Show
If you are planning to attend a holiday show, like a concert or play, this is an elegant yet simple outfit idea. Here, I’ve paired an oversized knit with a slip skirt and silver heels.

Holiday Shopping
I do most of my holiday shopping online, but one day, I like to head out to the stores to find some fun local gifts. This cool shopping look features a sleek black turtleneck, a faux fur coat, straight leg jeans, and heeled ankle boots.

Holiday Baking Party
My family always does a holiday baking party where we spend all afternoon preparing a bunch of different cookie recipes. This casual outfit would be perfect for this tradition. A comfy sweatshirt (this one works beyond the holidays, too) some light wash relaxed fit jeans, and your favorite comfy sneakers.
