I don’t know about you, but I love hearing about new finds and recommendations from others with similar interests. To end this month, I thought I’d share some of the things I’ve been loving this October.
I’ll admit this month has been a tough one for many reasons, but I’ll keep this post light-hearted for the sake of my sanity and yours. Halloween is on the horizon, and I’m looking forward to seeing the joy on my kids’ faces on this fun holiday. Our neighborhood is holding a socially distanced kid’s Halloween costume parade and is encouraging safe trick or treating with candy placed on tables in the driveway where individual candy can be taken from a distance. We don’t plan on going to too many houses – a 3 and 4 year old don’t last that long!
Below you’ll find a list of things I’ve been in to this month from podcasts to books, food and beauty. Hope you find a new favorite among this list!
Podcasts
Even the ads are funny on this podcast by Conan O’Brien!
Are you an Office fan? Who isn’t ?! The actors that play Pam and Angela on The Office get together to share the behind the scenes scoop from each episode on this podcast. I like to listen to the podcast then watch the episode.
Clothing
This sweatshirt is so cozy! I’ve been reaching for it a lot this Fall. It’s a slightly cropped fit so size up if you want it longer.
I was in desperate need of new glasses. My old pair was several years old and horribly scratched up. I just purchased this pair from Warby Parker, my favorite brand for trendy affordable glasses.
It’s interesting to see which items from my capsule wardrobe become a favorite. These booties have been my most worn shoes from my October Capsule. I love the detailing on the sides and the small heel which give my short self some extra height but are still very comfortable.
Home
The Hearth and Home Christmas Collection from Magnolia just dropped at Target recently, and it has me so excited for the holidays. I typically don’t purchase Christmas decorations till November, but items from this collection tend to sell out quickly. I picked up two mugs (this one and this one) and this adorable door mat.
Food
This recipe for banana muffins from Cookie and Kate has become a staple in our house. The muffins are sweetened with maple syrup or honey which make them healthier than your average muffin. This blog is full of other healthy vegetarian recipes as well.
I’ve been eating pieces of Lily’s milk chocolate bar for my nightly treat after the kids go to bed. I like this brand because the chocolate is sweetened with stevia. As I get older, I’ve been trying to reduce my sugar intake before bed which helps me sleep better. I’m certainly not perfect at this though (hello, Halloween candy!).
Beauty
I’ve been using this affordable face mask from Target a couple times a week. It brightens my normally dull skin. The package says it has 12+ uses, but I’ve definitely gotten more than that.
This gel nail polish from Essie is the best. It lasts at least 5-7 days (with a base and top coat). I love this color for Fall; it’s called ‘Wool Me Over.’
This foundation from Tarte has become a new favorite. Foundation is one beauty item that I’m willing to spend a little more on. I like that this one doesn’t feel heavy yet covers the redness on my cheeks well.
Books
This month I read this book and this book. I really enjoyed both, but the first I could not put down.
