I’m setting my style intentions for the spring and summer, and my outfit goals are easy and chic. I’ve been very inspired by ’90s style as seen in this post, but I’m also sneaking in some of that classic Nancy Meyer’s aesthetic as well. This style is chic and elegant but not trying too hard. The outfits feel unfussy and simple but still put together.
In this post, I pulled some inspirational images from Pinterest and created eight Nancy Meyer’s aesthetic outfits for spring. These would also work into early summer as well or longer depending on your climate. This post also has me wanting to plant some hydrangeas but that’s another story for another day.
Here’s the essentials pieces you’ll need to pull of the Nancy Meyer’s aesthetic for spring:
Striped Button Down & Striped Shirt // An easy, relaxed fit or oversized button down in a vertical stripe either in cotton or linen. The key here is in the styling – open the neckline, roll the sleeves, and leave a few buttons open for a more effortless look.
Cotton Sweaters // A cotton sweater is the coastal chic essential we need to get the Nancy Meyer’s look. I like having one in navy and beige or cream. It looks so chic when combined with linen.
Linen Pants & Linen Shorts // The Nancy Meyer’s aesthetic is all about the natural fibers, and linen is at the top of the list. Linen bottoms are a breezy, lightweight essential for the warmer months. Dont’ worry – a few wrinkles are part of their charm.
White Jeans // Although I love a pop of color sometimes, this aesthetic is more centered around neutrals and white jeans give that elegant, polished vibe. These can be tricky to shop for. Personally, I prefer an off-white color like ecru or beige over a bright white. I also recommend looking for a looser pair – white jeans tend to show everything.
Medium Wash to Light Wash Jeans // Easy fit straight jeans in a light to medium wash are a versatile staple that pair well with cotton sweaters, t-shirts, and button downs. For this style, look for a pair that is high waisted and slightly cropped to hit at the top of the foot.
Straw Hat & Baseball Cap // The characters in Nancy Meyer’s films often go light with accessories, but Diane Keaton signature bucket hat in Something’s Gotta Give is iconic. I love one in a woven material like straw or raffia. Another hat option is a baseball cap which gives preppy chic vibes.
Woven Bag & Canvas Bag // Two bag options that fit well with this aesthetic.
Easy White Dress // A simple, flowy, long white dress in cotton poplin or linen is essential. It’s fit for the beach or dinner on the patio.
Brown Leather Sandals // To pair with these effortless chic outfits (when one can’t go barefoot, of course), a pair of simple brown leather sandals work with all these looks. I also like the fisherman style as well.
