My Sézane Knitwear Collection

Over the years, I’ve amassed a bit of a knitwear collection from Sézane. And, yes, I think of it as a collection. The quality, fit, and thoughtful details that go into a piece of Sézane knitwear makes each piece truly special. In this post, I’m sharing all the knitwear I own from Sézane, including which are my favorite pieces, as well as sizing recommendations. I’ve also done a few in depth reviews over the years, and I will link to those posts when available.

One thing to note when purchasing Sézane knitwear is that most pieces are hand wash only. I typically don’t recommend buying knitwear from Sézane if you are primarily a SAHM since they do require some special care. However, I also recommend only washing your knitwear if absolutely necessary. Honestly, there are some sweaters in my closet that I’ve never washed. Yes, it’s true! Unless there are visible stains, I try not to wash these pieces because washing them wears them out quicker (And I want mine to last forever!) In fact, I often go about 4 or 5 wears between washes for most things in my closet.

My Sézane Knitwear Collection

The Barry Cardigan

Many people’s first introduction into Sézane is the Gaspard Cardigan which is such a classic Parisian chic piece. The Barry is just like the Gaspard except it has a v-neck instead of a crewneck. I actually prefer the Barry Cardigan over the Gaspard because the v-neck shows a bit of skin and therefore looks a bit more flattering. However, if you are mostly buying this for work, the Gaspard may be the better choice.

This cardigan has a relaxed fit and is made with a blend of kid mohair, baby alpaca, and polyamide (a synthetic material). It is a bit scratchy if you’re sensitive to wool. I always wear a long sleeve tee (scoop neck style for the Barry cardigan, specifically) under so it’s not directly against my skin. I recommend sizing down.

The Hugo Jumper

I purchased the Hugo Jumper last year when it was first released in this cream color. It’s now available in a beautiful burgundy as well. It’s a really nice winter sweater for cold climates. It has a cable knit pattern with a mock neck. The fit is slightly cropped, but I like to tuck in the front slightly. It’s not thick in terms of warmth, but I typically layer it with a base layer.

This one is made with mostly baby alpaca with also polyamide and a bit of elastane as well. It has just a slight scratchiness to it (for me, it’s a bit softer than the Barry and Gaspard.) I took my true size XS.

The Robin Sweater

I purchased the Robin Sweater in the fall after shopping around for a fair isle-esque sweater. It fits similar to the Hugo with it’s cropped, slightly boxy fit and mockneck. I also really love the ecru/black color combination – another nice sweater for fall/winter! Pair it with jeans, boots and a wool coat for a cool/classic winter outfit.

The composition is again mostly alpaca with polyamide but also 10% merino wool which makes it just a bit softer than the other sweaters above. I got my true size, XS.

The Emile Cardigan

This Emile Cardigan is my favorite piece of knitwear from Sézane, and the one I’ve probably worn the most. It’s a chunky knit with an oversized fit and slight balloon sleeves. I own this one in the light beige and burgundy. The fit on this one is just really nice – not too tight and easy to layer. I find myself mostly doing a front tuck since it’s a bit long.

It’s made with a blend of alpaca, polyamide, and wool, and some people do find it scratchy. I always wear a long sleeve tee underneath which helps. I recommend going down a size; I’m wearing the XXS. It’s very popular and comes in a ton of color options, too.

The Nino Jumper

This is my latest Sézane knitwear purchase, and the one you’ll find in my January Capsule Wardrobe. Unlike my other Sézane sweaters, this one has more of a fitted look making it good for layering under jackets and blazers. It also looks good paired with baggier or wide leg bottoms. I have the navy, but it also comes in red (tempting!)

This sweater is also made with 100% merino wool which is much softer than other Sézane sweaters which are made with alpaca/wool blends. I recommend staying true to size.

The Gaspard Jumper

This is usually everyone’s first foray into the brand, and for good reason. This button front cardigan is classic French girl style, and it looks sexy chic tucked into high waisted jeans. It’s made with the same blend as the Barry Cardigan (kid mohair, baby alpaca, and polyamide) and does have some scratchiness to it.

I have the ecru color (picture on left) in the XXS, and the camel color (picture on right) in the XS. I prefer the fit of the XXS, however, so I do recommend sizing down in this sweater. There are so many colors to pick from, too.

The Amiel Jumper

The Amiel Jumper is a classic wool crewneck sweater, but it has this cute little cable knit detail on the wrists and bottom (although you can’t generally see the detail on the bottom due to my need to do the millennial front tuck, sorry.) This color is called vanilla.

It’s made again with a alpaca/polyamide/elastane blend, and also has just a bit of scratchiness. I wear a long sleeve tee underneath.

The Angelie Cardigan

Before you get too excited, this sweater is actually no longer available, but I wanted to share it in case you wanted to shop it secondhand. Also, if you like this one, The Angie Cardigan is super similar just with a slightly different pattern and collar. It is probably the prettiest sweater I own, and I often wear it around the holidays. I took a size down in mine for a more fitted look.

The Léontine Jumper

I often recommend the Léontine Jumper for people who just cannot wear wool since it’s one of the few cotton sweaters Sézane has available. It has henley style buttons down the neckline which makes it read more casual. One thing I love about this sweater is the lovely drape it has both on the body and on the sleeves. I recommend staying true to size for a relaxed fit.
