Here is my last summer capsule wardrobe! Admittedly, August is one of my least favorite months to get dressed. It’s back to school season and fall is just around the corner with the promise of sweaters and boots, but we’re still very much in the dog days of summer. In order to please my autumn-loving heart while still dressing appropriately for the weather, I brought in a few fall colors and textures into my wardrobe. This will help tide me over until the crisp weather actually arrives.
For this capsule, you’ll see that I’ve included some olive greens and dark browns - two of my favorite colors for the cooler seasons. I purchased a pair of brown suede mules that I have been eyeing forever. They will definitely add a good textural element to my outfits this month.
In this capsule, you’ll also notice a lot of basics - I’m a simple dresser at heart and never more so than in the summer months - lots of tees and tanks, simple bottoms, and one casual dress. When it’s hot out, I prefer to add personality with my accessories including some textured bags, leopard print shoes, statement necklaces, and trendy sunglasses.
As always, you’ll find an outfit idea for each day this month at the bottom of this post. I refer back to these images daily when I’m getting dressed (no joke), and I hope you’ll use them as inspiration for your own looks this month.

Summer Capsule Wardrobe: August 2026
Tops

White Tank // Obviously a capsule wardrobe staple for summer. I discovered these tanks at the beginning of the summer, and I can’t get over the fit and quality. I would buy every color they ever make (which, at the moment, is only black and white). I sized up. More affordable option here
Striped Tee // I saw this Faherty striped tee while browsing and had to make it mine. I love the longer sleeve length and relaxed fit. Plus, the brand ethos is nothing to scoff at either. More affordable option here
Striped Button Up Shirt // You may spy a few new Sézane pieces in this capsule - ones that will transition well into fall in color and function like this olive and ivory striped button down. It has an oversized fit with wide cut sleeves. More affordable option here
Olive Green Tank // I finally took the plunge and purchased a few things from Sold Out NYC. These pieces are not cheap, I know, but I do believe if you can support smaller brands with your shopping dollars, you should. Plus, the quality lives up to the hype. A great basic to wear over and over again. More affordable option here
White Tee // For this summer capsule, I wanted to include this lightweight raw silk tee from Ozma. It is a hot weather favorite that I kind of forgot about until recently. It definitely adds a cool, laid back, California vibe.
Brown Cropped Tee // Another item I purchased from Sold Out NYC, this tee has this great cropped fit that hits at the perfect spot for high waisted bottoms. One of my hacks for staying cool in the summer are cropped tops (not too cropped, mind you) that don’t need to be tucked in. Trust me, if you tend to sweat in the summer, losing that extra fabric at the waist is so helpful. More affordable option here
Black Cardigan // You may think this cardigan is unrealistic for summer, but hear me out. One of the ways I like adding interest to my summer outfits is by tying a top around my waist. This sweater will be that accessory. Plus, even though it can be quite hot during the day, there have been a few nights and mornings where I needed a sweater.
White Button Up Shirt // This lightweight cotton button down from Sézane has a loose oversized fit. One of my summer uniforms is some little shorts with a big button down shirt. Sometimes, I’ll leave in open with a tank underneath for a different look (and an easily removable layer). I took my true size. More affordable option here
Black Tank // Another closet item from last year I discovered again. This black tank is a cotton linen blend with a loose fit. It’s pricey but from a great brand. More affordable option here
Bottoms

White Poplin Shorts // I find myself reaching for a pair of casual, nondenim shorts often this summer so I added this white poplin pair to my wardrobe. More affordable option here
Black T-Shirt Dress // This casual black dress will be a good option for low key summer days. I plan on changing it up with different accessories like a scarf or leopard print flats. More affordable option here
Denim Shorts // I love the longer length and wider leg on these denim shorts. I took my true size.
Sweat Shorts // I included these in my July Capsule and wore them a TON. They are so comfortable. I found myself pairing them with my button downs most often to elevate them a bit. More affordable option here
Brown Poplin Pants // These brown pants are a cotton poplin and are lightweight enough for hot summer weather. I plan to pair them with a tee or tank for August. I took the petite length and they are quite cropped.
Wide Leg Denim // These jeans from Pistola have such a good fit. I also own them in brown. They fit true to size. More affordable option here
Green Utility Pants // A new release from Sézane - they might just be sold out by the time you see this, but hopefully they will be restocked. They are (surprisingly for Sézane) very petite friendly; they fit full length on me. I took my true size. More affordable option here
Shoes

Black Flip Flops // Definitely my most worn shoe in the summer. Mine are old from Abercrombie, but I’m linking a similar pair.
Leopard Print Flats // These flats will be good for adding some print and texture to an outfit. I think ballet flats are an unexpected but elevated pairing to a more casual summer outfit.
Brown Suede Mules // This is probably the purchase I’m most excited about. I’ll be including these in every capsule until winter. I’ve had these on my wishlist for a very long time. They come in a few width options, too, although I took the standard. More affordable option here
White Flip Flops // I’m not a big Amazon shopper, but these white flip flops have been surprisingly well loved.
Silver Sneakers // These sneakers were gifted from La Canadienne and they are so cute. They have a slim profile and are water repellent. I’ll be wearing these on rainy days, of which we’ve had many this summer. More affordable option here
