Summer is here! After the end of the school year and spending almost half the month of June traveling, I’m back with my July Capsule Wardrobe. This is a hyper realistic summer capsule wardrobe meant for the very relaxed summer I plan to have with my kids. I prefer to take the summer season at a much slower pace (and I feel very privileged to have the option to do so!) This capsule is mostly easy and wearable basics – lots of tanks, loose shorts, and easy dresses. You should also know that I’m a sweaty person by nature as well and cannot wear tight clothing or anything too heavy this time of year.
Of all the seasons, I love having a capsule wardrobe in the summertime. It makes getting dressed so much easier with less overwhelm and decision making. I don’t know about you, but this is the season where I tend to care less about what I’m wearing and more about being comfortable.
If you’re new here, welcome!. This is one of my capsule wardrobes I share each month. I always create enough outfit ideas for the month which are shared at the bottom of this post as well. Along with this post, I also share my real life outfits on Instagram (and Substack, too!) using the pieces from the capsule. I hope this helps make summer dressing a little easier for you, too.
Summer Capsule Wardrobe: July 2026
Tops

Striped Button Down Shirt // This is a recent purchase that includes a matching pair of red striped boxer shorts. I love red for summer! I took my true size, and it has an oversized fit.
Striped Poplin Tank // This little top from J.Crew is darling! I even brought it with me to Paris. It is a thicker cotton poplin material and has some structure to it. It also has a v-neckline in the back which is a sweet detail.
Red Tank // This is one of four basic tanks I included in this capsule. Like I said, I’m keeping it simple for summer. My exact red tank is this one from Sézane but sold out in this color. I linked a similar one.
Black Tank // I purchased this black tank from Buck Mason at the beginning of the season and, I have to say, it might be my favorite tank I’ve ever purchased. The quality is excellent, and the straps are thin but sturdy. I had to go back and buy the white one, too which is also included in this capsule. I sized up to the Small.
Navy Tank // I thought a navy tank would round out this capsule nicely so I snagged this one from Gap via Amazon. I like to size up in my ribbed tanks so they don’t fit too tight.
Eyelet Top // My summer wardrobe was lacking in a cute little white tank so I grabbed this one from Madewell. It’s adorable!
White Tank // This is the other color tank I purchased from Buck Mason. It’s pricey as far as tanks go but so worth it, in my opinion. I have the Small in this one, too (a size up for me.)
Blue Button Down Shirt // In the summer, I like wearing my button downs open with a tank underneath that way you always have the option to remove it if the weather gets too warm for sleeves. This one fits oversized which I love.
Bottoms

Linen Shorts // Every summer wardrobe needs a pair of linen shorts for hot days. Mine are from Aritzia (the shorts version of their very popular Lodge Pants.) They are low stock right now but hoping for a restock soon. Here and here are more options.
Sweat Shorts // These are the summer version of sweats. These sweat shorts can read pretty casual, and I do plan to wear them casually; but I also like creating some contrast by pairing them with my eyelet top or button downs.
Striped Boxer Shorts // These are the matching shorts to the striped button down from above. I plan to wear this as a matching set but also paired with my tanks. I took my true size.
Trouser Shorts // These are the shorts version of the Aritzia Effortless Pants (also included in this capsule!) These have the perfect drape and really polish up a simple summer outfit.
Denim Shorts // A summer wardrobe staple. The pair I’m including are from Sézane. They have a loose fit in the thighs and are pretty comfortable as far as denim goes. I sized up.
Blue Maxi Skirt // I bought this maxi skirt to take with me to Paris knowing that I would wear it well into summer. I love the color! It’s VERY full, FYI. I took the XS, but I would recommend sizing down.
Ecru Trousers // These trousers are so comfortable. I wanted one pants option in my capsule in case of cooler weather, but these are so light and airy, too. If you need to dress up for the office, I highly recommend these (I own them in black as well.) I took my larger size, 2, and the Short inseam, but I still needed to have these hemmed about an inch and a half (I’m 5’3″ with short legs.)
Dresses

Black Linen Mini Dress // This is just a really simple black linen dress that can be dressed up or down depending on styling. If I’m wearing this at home for a day with my kids, I’ll wear a pair of cotton biker shorts underneath for peace of mind. This is from Madewell; here is a similar one if it sells out.
Printed Dress // I saw this dress and couldn’t resist! I love the lace details and the geometric print. It’s loose and billowy, too which makes it nice for hot days.
Shoes

Brown Flip Flops // Given the tendency of my feet to swell in hot weather, I’ll probably be wearing flip flops 90% of the time. This is one of three pairs in my capsule. Mine are from J.Crew, but here is a similar pair if they’re sold out.
White Flip Flops // I’ve already worn these a surprising amount this summer. These are just an affordable pair from Amazon but they look nice!
Black Flip Flops // I have a pair of black leather flip flops I got last year from Abercrombie, but I linked a similar pair.
Woven Flats // These Mary Jane ballet flats are the cutest! I love the woven texture and the ties on the top. I took these to Paris with me recently.
Canvas Sneakers // I’ll be wearing these sockless this summer (no shame) to create some ’90s inspired looks with this capsule.
No summer looks would be complete without a few accessories. They do A LOT for an outfit when you can’t layer. I’ll be wearing many of the same accessories you’ve seen in other capsules. I switch between these earrings and these earrings. For bags, I’ll be using this classic canvas tote from Land’s End, this midi sling bag from Abby Alley (ASHLEYR15 for 15% off) and this basket bag or this basket bag from Sézane (they are very similar – you don’t need both!) I rotate between a few pairs of sunglasses which I can’t live without – one, two, three, and four. I also just got this leopard print scarf from Sézane which will likely make a few appearances this month!
