The beginning of a new year is always a time of reflection and goal setting for me. I know some people aren’t big on resolutions, but I personally love setting some new goals for the year. It helps guide my decisions and gives me direction for achieving the vision I have for my life. I like to set a few goals for my personal life as well as some goals for my business.
This year, I purchased a new planner specifically for bloggers, and I’m really excited to use it to plan my weeks and track my progress. I’ve also used this planner before which is a bit more generic and works well for other careers, too.
Check out my 2023 goals and aspirations here.
Personal Goals
Wake up earlier.
After a bit of a tumultuous year with ups and downs that resulted in some major sleep issues, I totally let go of any expectations to get up early. I needed the rest, so I let myself sleep in till the kids needed to be up for school. However, I really enjoy quiet time in the mornings, and I find it just sets me up for a calmer and more focused day. I like to start my day with a short mediation, my gratitude journal, and a workout. I’m setting my alarm for 5:40am on weekdays and 6:15am on weekends to accomplish this.
Hit 10K steps per day.
I do a good amount of walking in my neighborhood, but I often don’t hit 10K steps in one day. I’m adding in an after lunch walk to get me over this goal. Regular movement and time outside is so good for long term health.
Buy a house and make it our home.
This is Danny and I’s big goal for the new year. We sold our house in Kansas before we moved to Seattle and have been renting a home for the past two years. I’m very ready to feel more settled and begin making a long term home for our family.
Practice French Regularly
One of my life goals is to learn French. We have the Babbel app, and last year over the summer, I was using it regularly to practice. I want to get back to using the app more consistently this year.
Business Goals

Use Pinterest more effectively.
Pinterest is such a great platform for bloggers, and, if you are consistent with it, you can really grow your audience. This year, I plan to learn more about using Pinterest effectively to optimize my page and increase views.
Be better about tracking analytics.
I started my blog about four years ago, and it has grown so much since then. Last year was the first year I really truly considered it my business. This job has so many fun aspects, but I also need to do the ‘businessy’ things, too. I haven’t been very good at tracking my analytics to see what is working and what I need to change. I plan to use my new planner to periodically evaluate my numbers and make changes as needed.
Pitch myself to brands I love.
I rarely reach out to a brand to partner with them. I usually just wait for them to find me by tagging them on Instagram. I have always had this underlying fear of rejection which has prevented me from putting myself out there more. And, let me tell you, I’m SO over that crap. I won’t grow if I don’t challenge myself and let go of these limiting beliefs.
