Fall Capsule Wardrobe: October 2026 (Parisian Inspired!)

After an unusually warm September, fall’s signature chill has finally arrived here in Chicago. I’ve been waiting, jackets at the ready. This is the season I love to dress for. Every month, I put together a capsule wardrobe of about twenty items from my closet. I’ll mix and match those twenty items all month to create my daily outfits. I find reducing my options actually makes getting dressed much easier. In this post, you’ll see my full October capsule wardrobe with outfit ideas for each day this month.

Parisian inspired fall capsule wardrobe with 20 items

The past few weeks, I’ve been very inspired by Parisian style - chic, feminine, and effortless. I’ve created this capsule with those words in mind, drawing inspiration from my favorite Parisian style influencers to create this capsule wardrobe. It’s a good one!

Fall Capsule Wardrobe: October 2026

Tops

Navy Cardigan // Some very well done ads inspired a recent order from Rouje, a French brand created by Jeanne Damas (one of the original Parisian style influencers!) I would say it’s a bit more feminine than Sézane (for the record, I LOVE both, and you’ll see many Sézane items in this capsule, too!) This navy cardigan has that classic French girl button front style, but the sleeves have a slight balloon shape. I took a size up which is a 36, size 4 in U.S .sizing. Affordable option here.

Gray Sweater // This is a new wool sweater from Sézane’s latest drop. I like that this has more of a slim fit which looks more balanced with the wider styles of denim I have in my capsule. I took my true size, XS. More affordable option here (I personally avoid any sweaters made with acrylic - they won’t last.)

Red Knit Turtleneck // This was the item that started my Rouje cart! I shopped around for a more affordable option but couldn’t find a good alternative that has this cable knit style. It’s also 100% wool and on the thinner side so it’ll be nice for layering. Affordable option here.

Navy Ringer Tee // I included this ringer tee in my September capsule and am still wanting to wear it this month, too. This style of tee adds a cool element to my outfits. Affordable option here.

White Button Down Shirt // In an effort to add some variety to my capsule wardrobe, I chose this white button down made of a crinkled fabric instead of your typical structured cotton. It really gives this vintage, feminine vibe. I adore this and wore it the first day of my capsule so that’s saying something. Note that it is a tiny bit transparent so if you’re planning on wearing this to the office, you’ll likely need a light colored camisole underneath. I took a size 36. This silk shirt from Quince gives a similar look at a more budget-friendly price.

Striped Button Down Shirt // This striped button down from Sézane (which I included in my August capsule) has this nice oversized fit, but it isn’t too long. It looks good tucked or untucked. I took my true size, 2. This button down from Madewell is also a favorite.

White & Black Long Sleeve Tee // I added these tees as layering options. Mine are old from Madewell, but these ones from J.Crew look almost identical.

Outerwear

Brown Suede Jacket // I received this jacket as part of my ongoing partnership with Sézane. It’s a beautiful warm chocolate brown and has this perfect cropped fit. I took my true size. More affordable option here.

Tan Trench Coat // No fall capsule wardrobe would be complete with a trench coat. When I went to Paris in the spring, all the women were wearing trench coats. This one is a new style from Sézane. I kind of like that it doesn’t have any ties or extraneous buttons. I’ll be wearing this on rainy days this month (with an umbrella as well.) Affordable option here.

Leather Jacket // I have two leather jackets, this one from Sézane and a leather bomber jacket from Quince. I truly love both, but I like to switch it up every month for a little variety. In this one, I have my true size, XS.

Plaid Blazer // I’ve been shopping around for a plaid blazer for fall and winter so I was very excited to this new release from Sézane. I’ll be layering this over my tees and sweaters. I can’t wait to wear it! I took my true size, 2. This one from Quince looks like an excellent affordable alternative (I own it in gray.)

Bottoms

Light Wash Cropped Denim // Slvrlake denim is really having a moment in my wardrobe. I received this cropped straight leg pair as part of my Neiman Marcus partnership last month and just had to include them in my capsule. I know these are pricey (I’m kind of a collector of denim) but I always recommend Quince rigid jeans as a great budget-friendly option. Cropped denim is a must have in my fall capsule - they look amazing with an ankle boot.

Indigo Straight Leg Jean // These are listed as wide leg but, in my opinion, they are more of a straight leg. I love this dark wash, too, especially for fall. I recommend going up a size in these. Affordable option here.

Black Kick Flare Pants // These pants are a new purchase, and I’m very happy with them. Most of my pants are loose and baggy, and I was shopping around for something with a different silhouette. I had heard amazing things abut AYR, and these did not disappoint. They are a slim fit in the hips and thighs with a kick flare leg. The cropped fit goes with ALL my shoes, too! More affordable option here.

Cream Cropped Denim // I added this pair of denim to give my looks a bit more color variety. I like that they are a cream instead of a stark white which can be a bit more difficult to style, in my opinion. They are a high waisted cropped fit. I recommend sizing up!

Medium Wash Wide Leg Jeans // These are my other pair of Slvrlake Jeans that have a full length wide leg fit. I had to have these taken up a couple inches, but I have very short legs. The wash on these is a perfect medium blue. I took my true size, 25. For an affordable option, I’ve heard great things about J.Crew’s Trouser Jeans which come in multiple inseams.

Shoes

Black Loafers // When I was in Paris, the two shoes everyone was wearing were loafers and sneakers so I had to include this classic pair of black loafers in my capsule. You can find cheaper options, but know that these are definitely worth the money. They have cushioning and arch support and other features that make them extremely comfortable right out of the box, especially for those with any foot issues. I took my true size.

Sneakers // I admittedly don’t reach for sneakers very often, but I was inspired by the chic women of Paris to start pairing them with my more elevated pieces like trench coats and leather jackets. Adidas were definitely the most popular brand in Paris, and I love the slim silhouette of the Japan Shoe. I took my true size.

Brown Ankle Boots // La Canadienne is another brand that I partner with and highly recommend for high quality and bad-weather-friendly footwear. These ankle boots are made with a waterproof suede! I took a half size up to have room for socks. Here is a more budget-friendly option, although not waterproof.

Leopard Print Flats // These have to be my most worn ballet flat of all time. I actually wore these all over Paris for miles and miles. I adore the leopard print which adds some interest and femininity to my outfits. They’ve appeared in many of my capsule wardrobes this year. More affordable option here.

Black Ankle Boot // These boots from Staud are such a classic pair of boots; I plan to wear them for years and years. These have all the things I look for in an ankle boot - high shaft (so no ankle shows), elongated toe for that sleek look, and a slight heel to add a little height to my short frame without getting wobbly. Slightly more affordable option here from J.Crew.

Brown Chelsea Boot // Another pair of waterproof boots from La Canadienne (I really love this brand). I’m including these for really wet days since they have good tread on the sole. I sized up a half size to allow for thicker socks. Affordable option here.

Accessories

For accessories, I love the idea of having some signature jewelry pieces like a coin necklace (mine is old from Sheena Marshall Jewelry) and some pretty stud earrings. I’m also planning to rotate though some sunglasses, including this cat eye pair, this oval pair, and this aviator pair. For bags, I’m usually grabbing this brown suede handbag, this brown leather woven bag, or this black leather shoulder bag. We also have some date night plans so I’ll be swapping those bags for this vintage inspired beaded bag.
