If you tend to get in a denim shorts rut come summertime, I’ve got some alternative options for you to consider. I rounded up all my favorite bottom styles from Everlane – an entire week’s worth with no repeats! All these bottoms are easy to mix and match with a basic tee or tank, but I’m sharing even more styling ideas below.

A Week’s Worth Of Bottoms For Summer
The A-Line Denim Short

These might be my favorite denim shorts EVER. What I love about them is the a-line cut which gives your thighs room to BREATH. If it’s hot where you live, you know exactly what I mean. They also have a flattering high waist and come in a few color options. Personally, I own these in the light indigo and this washed black wash. I find them to fit true to size but you may consider sizing up if you want them to fit looser in the waist.

Along with a simple tee or tank, you could also styles these denim shorts (in any color) with a fitted cardigan sweater and sandals. I feel like I repeat myself here, but another variation of this look (if it’s too hot) is to tie the cardigan around your waist or over your shoulders. A second option is to pair these denim shorts with a lightweight button up shirt in a linen or cotton material. I also like wearing the shirt unbuttoned with a tank underneath as well. So many options!

The Utility Short

These chino shorts are made with cotton and a touch of elastane for stretch. The fit is structured but relaxed, and they are also really comfortable, too. They are a reasonably length that is appropriate for work if you live in a hot climate. I took my true size.

These shorts feel a bit more tailored so I like them paired with a basic tee and a casual shoe like a suede loafer or boat shoe. You could also stick with the tailored theme and pair these with a trendy vest and ballet flats for a more elevated look.

The Straight Leg Utility Pant

These utility pants comes in several different styles from straight leg to wide leg and barrel leg. This straight leg version comes in two different inseam options which means us petites won’t have to have them hemmed. These pants are made with the same cotton and elastane combo as The Utility Short which gives them structure with just a bit of stretch. They come in several color options but this ecru color is nice for spring and summer. These would work nicely as a warm weather work pant as well. I find they fit true to size for a relaxed fit.

Above, I’ve given you one ‘business casual’ look that you could wear to work and one look for everyday. The first option features a cotton button up shirt and fisherman sandals. You could leave the shirt untucked or tuck it in depending on your preference. For the second option, I’ve paired these pants with a cute spaghetti strap blouse (click the link below to see the back; it’s my favorite part!) and some slide sandals. This would be a nice look for a summer barbecue or family dinner.

The Linen Way High Drape Pant

Here’s another pant option that would work for warm weather. These linen trousers have a clasp and zipper closure so they read a bit more dressy than linen pants with a drawstring or elastic waist. The linen is really good quality and not scratchy in the slightest. I think these could be styled so many ways. I’m usually pairing them with a simple ribbed tank or a tee for my casual life, but if you go into an office you could wear a button up shirt or silk blouse. Just a note that these run long; I took mine to the tailor to have them taken up a few inches.

I know I mentioned above that I usually just wear these with a basic tank and flip flops in the summer, but I LOVE these two more dressy looks I put together. Since these pants have a wide cut and loose drape, I think they look really nice with a cropped top like the two options above. The first look features a linen cropped top (just added this to my summer wishlist!) and some casual sandals. I would wear this look for a casual summer evening get-together. The next look is a more dressy option with a smocked tank and strappy sandals.

The Dream Mini Skirt

I received this skirt a few month’s ago, but it’s been too cold to wear it! I wouldn’t consider myself much of a skirt girlie, but this one’s different. The fit is really good, and it’s just easy to wear if you know what I mean. It has a bit of an a-line cut so it drapes nicely, and the fabric is so soft and doesn’t wrinkle.

Here’s some styling ideas for this one. The first with a cotton sweater and sandals is more of a spring look or possibly a chilly summer evening. The second look features a linen vest and slide sandals for an elevated summer look.

The Anywhere Barrel Short

These casual shorts are made with a technical fabric that you could wear for all your summer outdoor activities. However, I’m seeing athletic shorts become very on trend this spring and summer but styled in a much more elevated way. Instead of dressing them down with tees and tanks, try dressing them up with a button down or sweater. Adding some jewelry and a structured bag helps elevate the look, too.

Here’s two different ways to style these shorts – one with an easy relaxed fit tee and Mary Jane flats and one with a linen button down and flip flops.

The Midi Skirt in Ultrasoft Cotton

I included this skirt in my Early Spring Capsule Wardrobe and have already gotten tons of wear out of it. I like the minimal style with no ruffles, lace, or smocking. I’ve mostly styled it with sweaters and tees paired with sandals, but I’ll definitely be styling it just like this with a ribbed tee for summer. The waist runs quite large so I recommend taking a size down.

Here’s a couple more ways to style it. The first is super similar to what I’m wearing above, but I love the contrast of the black and white paired with the brown sandals. The second look is a bit more dressy with a fitted cardigan sweater and leather flip flops.
