I’m all about reveling in the coziness that is fall. One of my favorite cool weather activities is grabbing some blankets and a mug of tea, lighting a pumpkin candle, and settling in on the couch for a movie. If this sounds like you, I’ve got a list of ten cozy fall movies to watch. These are the films that give me those warm fuzzy fall feelings. They range from family favorites like It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown to romantic comedies like You’ve Got Mail. There is a little something for everyone on this list.
Ten Cozy Fall Movies To Watch Right Now

You’ve Got Mail
One of my favorite movies of all time, I always watch this Nora Ephron classic with Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks every September. Was there ever a better duo suited for romantic comedy? In this adorable movie, two business owners (one of a small local bookstore and another of a big discount chain) ‘go to the mattresses’ while unbeknownst to both, they are also corresponding anonymously through AOL. It’s just the best.
Where To Watch: Amazon Prime, Apple TV

Halloweentown
This classic 1998 film staring Debbie Reynolds is a perfect Halloween movie for kids that won’t frighten them too much. There is a such a delicate balance there, am I right? In this movie, two kids learn their grandmother is a witch, and they end up helping her to save Halloweentown from evil forces. There is so much good fall fun in this movie.
Where To Watch: Disney +, Hulu, Amazon Prime

Casper
In this movie, starring Christini Ricci and Bill Pullman, a friendly ghost named Casper befriends a girl who moves into an old manor with her dad where Casper has been living. This was a favorite Halloween movie of mine as a kid (it came out when I was twelve!) It probably had something to do with the fact that my teen crush, Devon Sawa, appeared, albeit very briefly, in the film. I plan to watch this with my kids for an October movie night this year.

Hocus Pocus 1 & 2
As a self professed far girlie, you saw this coming, right? I’ve been watching the original Hocus Pocus every year in October since it was released, and I can probably quote the entire movie from beginning to end. A quick recap – a teenager lights the black flame candle which results in the return of three witches from the past. The kids, along with a cursed cat, must banish the witches back to where they came from. I was so excited when they released a sequel a few years ago. It’s definitely not as good as the first (sequels rarely are) but still fun to watch.
Where To Watch: Disney Plus, Amazon Prime, Apple TV

E.T. the Extraterrestrial
This iconic 80s movie is so nostalgic to me. In this classic, an extra terrestrial gets left behind after landing on earth. A kid discovers and befriends E.T. and tries to help him get back to his spaceship before being discovered by scientists. We recently rewatched this with my kids, and it was so fun to see it again through their eyes. They liked it, but they had A LOT of questions. Who were those people in the white suits? Where are the parents? Are they riding their bikes alone unsupervised all over the neighborhood? The 80s, lol.

Harry Potter
We are BIG Harry Potter fans in our house, and I’ve been reading the books aloud with the kids for a few years now (we are on book 6!) There is something about the start of school year at Hogwarts that makes me want to watch this in the fall and also, maybe, drink pumpkin juice. Of course, you can pick any one of the eight movies to choose from, but the first will always be one of my favorites.
Where To Watch: Max, Peacock, Amazon Prime

Practical Magic
I saw this movie in the theaters when I was fourteen! This film stars two favorites of mine, Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock as sisters who are witches attempting to break a curse that kills the men they fall in love with. I haven’t seen it in years, but with a sequel in the works, I plan to watch it again this fall.
Where To Watch: Amazon Prime, Apple TV

Remember The Titans
If you’re a football fan, this one is for you. Denzel Washington plays the head football coach of a newly integrated high school, and people have thoughts about it. It explores the themes of race in the 1970s and overcoming prejudices. I always love a good sports film, and this one doesn’t disappoint.
Where To Watch: Disney +, Amazon Prime, Apple TV

It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown
I love this little short film and watch it with my kids every year. The beloved Peanuts characters get ready for Halloween while Linus awaits the arrival of the Great Pumpkin. It’s just so adorable.
Where To Watch: Apple TV

When Harry Met Sally
Don’t you love a romantic comedy set in New York during autumn? I’m not usually a fan of the friends turned lovers trope, but Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan make it work in the best way. Plus, I love seeing the 80s fashion come to life here.
