Packing for Paris in the spring can feel like a balancing act: you want to look effortlessly chic and fit in with the locals, but you also need to be comfortable for a day filled with sightseeing and exploring. Whether you’re planning to stroll along the Seine, sip coffee at a sidewalk café, or explore the city’s iconic museums, packing in just a carry on suitcase can seem like an impossible task. However, by sticking to comfortable and chic basics that you can mix and match, it can be done! In this post, I’ll walk you through the essentials to bring for a Parisian getaway, all while keeping your suitcase compact and efficient. From versatile layers to chic accessories, here is my Paris spring packing list all in a carry on.
Tips For Packing For Paris
Stick to comfortable walking shoes only. I know it is tempting to bring a strappy pair of heels for a nice dinner in Paris, but if you’re packing light, bringing a pair of shoes you’ll only wear once is not a feasible option.
If you’re looking to blend in with the locals, leave the athleisure at home. You will not see many Parisians walking around in their gym clothes.
Be purposeful with accessories. If you’re packing light, a few thoughtful accessories will add interest to your minimal outfits. A silk scarf, chunky hoops, and cat eye sunglasses are some chic Parisian inspired options.
Stick to pieces you can layer. Spring weather in Paris can be unpredictable (check the weather before you go!) It could be freezing or beautifully temperate. You’ll want to bring pieces you can layer with each other so you’re prepared for any kind of weather.
Wear any bulky items on the plane to save room in your suitcase. In this case, I would wear the trench coat and sneakers for traveling.
Paris Spring Packing List
Lady Jacket // This type of cardigan with buttons down the front and a cropped fit, is a Parisian staple. You can pair it with any style of bottoms or shoes for a dressy or casual outfit. Plus, you have the option to wear it buttoned up or unbuttoned and layered with a tee. Option One / Option Two
White Tee // A quality white tee is the basic you should be packing for all your spring trips. Pair it with a blazer or trench coat for a simple but chic outfit for daytime or layer it under a sweater for extra warmth. Option One / Option Two
Button Down Shirt // An oversized button down is another versatile basic that is comfortable yet effortless. You can wear it tucked or untucked depending on the formality of your plans. Option One / Option Two
Crewneck Sweater // A basic crewneck sweater can be worn on it’s own or layered with other items you’ve packed. You can even throw it over shoulders and wear it like a scarf. Option One / Option Two
Neutral Blazer // A timeless and chic staple, a blazer is a must pack for Paris. You can dress it up with a pair of sleek flats or wear it casually with sneakers. Option One / Option Two
Trench Coat // A trench coat is a spring jacket you’ll definitely need for Paris. Option One / Option Two
Wide Leg Trousers // A pair of comfortable trousers can be dressed up with flats or worn casually with sneakers. Choose a pair that is full length without touching the ground. Option One / Option Two
Black Full Length Jeans // I recommend two different styles of jeans – one cropped and one full length – just to mix it up a bit. A full length style elongates your legs and looks really chic with a pointed toe flat. I highly encourage you to have this jeans hemmed professionally so they are the perfect length for you. Option One / Option Two
Cropped Jeans // This classic style is a must have. They are super practical and go with any shoes you might bring along. Option One / Option Two
Slingback Flats // You’ll want to have a dressy shoe option for nice dinners out. I recommend slingback flats which are sleek and polished. Option One / Option Two
Low Profile Sneakers // A pair of slim sneakers like these Adidas Samba sneakers are a comfortable option for days spent walking around the city and seeing the sights. Ideally, you would wear these on the plane to save room in your suitcase. Option One / Option Two
Accessories // These are the pieces you can add to your outfit to make it more interesting:
Silk Scarf
Coin Necklace
Chunky Hoops
Crossbody Bag
Belt
Sling Bag (ASHLEYR15 for 15% off your first purchase)
