I’m on a personal mission to test out all the affordable clean beauty brands on the market. Kosas is a brand I initially tried after hearing rave reviews of their brow gel. That product was a clear winner and one I now incorporate daily in my makeup routine. I have since purchased a handful of Kosas products to test out, and I’m sharing a review of those products below. *This post is not sponsored, and I purchased all these products with my own money.
My skin type is very dry so I can’t speak to how these products perform on oily skin types.
Kosas Beauty Review
ABOUT KOSAS
The founder of Kosas, Sheena Zadeh-Daly, majored in Biology and first created the brand Kosas after taking a painting class. She launched the brand with four shades of lipsticks in 2015. Now they carry an entire line of makeup from SPF to foundation to mascara.
Similar to another favorite brand of mine, Ilia, Kosas’ makeup formulations always include skincare ingredients that are beneficial to the skin and will improve skin over time with continued use. The brand describes their look as ‘comfy glam’ which in essence means wearable makeup that looks good on. They describe the look as ‘you plus a little extra.’
They adhere to EU clean beauty standards and ban many ingredients that have been shown to be harmful in studies.
PRODUCTS I’VE TRIED
For this review, I picked up Kosas best sellers to test out for myself. I chose to pass on some products based on reviews. One product that did get good reviews is the Kosas Revealer Skin Improving Foundation, but my shade was sold out at the time of this review. I’ll update this post once I’ve given it a try.
Kosas BB Burst Tinted Moisturizer Gel Cream With Copper Peptides
This newly released tinted moisturizer is worth the hype. It contains copper peptides that support collagen production plus other skincare ingredients that reduce redness, even texture, and hydrate your skin. It is super lightweight and easy to apply. I think it goes on best when applied with your hands. The redness coverage was minimal in my opinion, but I use a tiny bit of concealer on the areas around my nose and cheeks to reduce redness. I’ve been using this product frequently in the summer for hot days when I want to go light with my makeup.
Kosas Revealer Super Creamy + Brightening Concealer
As I’ve aged, concealer has become one of the most challenging products to find. I’m looking for a hydrating concealer that doesn’t settle into the fine lines around my eyes. I have to say, this one from Kosas is very effective. It has a medium coverage and feels and looks very natural on the skin. It also contains skincare products you’d typically find in an eye cream like hyaluronic acid to hydrate and plump the delicate skin around the eyes.
Kosas Air Brow Tinted Volumizing Treatment Gel
This is the product that initially turned me on to the Kosas Brand. It’s now my go-to eyebrow product that I can’t live without. I use it daily (even on days when I wear minimal makeup) to fluff my brows and add a little color. This product also contains ingredients to nourish and support healthy brows, but I really haven’t seen any changes to that effect.
Kosas Brow Pop Dual Action Defining Pencil
I have naturally sparse eyebrows so sometimes I like to fill them in a bit with a brow pencil. The triangle shape of the pencil works well for filling in my brows. You can also use the thinner point to add shape and definition, but I prefer a more undone brow look. I apply light strokes in the sparse areas of my brows then blend with the spoolie on the opposite end. The pigment lasts pretty much all day.
Kosas Weightless Lip Color Nourishing Satin Lipstick
For every brand I test, I absolutely must try their red lipstick. It’s a personal goal of mine. I purchased the shade Deep Talks which is a neutral brick red. The color appears a little more burgundy in real life, at least on my skin tone, and although it’s really hydrating and smooth, it’s not as shiny as depicted in the photos online. However, the color is very pigmented and goes on easily with one swipe. Overall, this isn’t my favorite red lipstick.
Kosas LipFuel Hyaluronic Acid Lip Balm
This lip balm contains hyaluronic acid to hydrate and plump lips. I used this all winter long especially when I had a stuffy nose that resulted in dry lips. I use the Clear shade, but this product also comes in tinted versions to add a little color. I use this daily in the morning to hydrate my lips prior to applying my red lipstick.
Overall, my favorite products from Kosas are the tinted moisturizer, concealer, brow gel, and lip balm. I’ve added each of these products to my makeup routine and plan to purchase them again. I also have heard good reviews about the foundation, setting powder, and wet lip oil.
